What's one of the most cringey phases you've ever been through?

I went through a gangsta phase when I was 19 (2008). It ended when I realized how dumb it was. It just wasn't me, lol.
LadyJ · F
Probably my late 80s shell suit phase 😂🤣😎
nedkelly · 61-69, M

Iwillwait · M
@SW-User XTC was always a funny thing.
SW-User
@Iwillwait I remember it being on the news a lot back then.
I used to watch the movie Grease over and over and dance in front of my TV to Madonna videos. That ended when I was 13.
Iwillwait · M
@WonderGirl1 I believe that's still acceptable behavior.
summersong · F
Marriage 😶
@summersong oh my gosh. 🤣
SubstantialKick · 31-35, M
@summersong Relationships are overrated, lol.
DoubleRings · 51-55, F
I tried too hard in my teens trying to get the attention of boys I liked. If I saw any of them even today I’d still want the ground to swallow me up. None of them ever reciprocated how I felt - not even one.

Whenever I did date a guy and we broke up I sometimes took it pretty hard too and wasn’t very private about it at times. I wish I could take that back bc it put a lot of pressure on me to at least appear like I got my act together which lead to more stupid decisions.

The last time a break up happened I took it really hard, made a big spectacle of myself, realized I created a lot of drama for my friends who were really worried about me. So I rushed into the next relatnsp to make it look like (and maybe even believe myself) that I had finally moved on to a promising future and let them off the hook from their worry. But it wasn’t promising, it kind of sucks even worse actually.

Yeah I got issues….
SubstantialKick · 31-35, M
@DoubleRings I tried so hard to get attention from girls that I ended up scaring them off 😆.
DoubleRings · 51-55, F
@SubstantialKick Well I’m glad i’m not the only one
Ha ! In the mid 70s when I wore an Afro and an army surplus jacket with my jeans (after school and on weekends). The jacket had a collection of patches (which I later removed and saved). I also wrote a lot of angry, awful poetry. I got over that during college.
Peaches · F
When I cared about what everyone thought, 😏 glad I'm past that now.
WhateverWorks · 36-40
My hippie phase is not my proudest moment 😅
Middle school phase in the mid 90’s where bathing was questioned, I welcomed a humidity/frizz Afro and thought it was presentable and wore pants that were entirely too big for my body frame.
ZashaKitty · 26-30, F
probably at school when i would just copy friends and dress in whatever was deemed cool. I was never truly myself there
SW-User
Teenage rebellion - popping pills, getting in fights and getting excluded from school
I tried grunge. It’s just not a very good look for girls. lol
Early teens. Cringe
SubstantialKick · 31-35, M
@stratosranger That too for me, lol.
Elessar · 26-30, M
Hopeful romantic phase. Eww.
NickiHijab · F

Forgetmeknot · 41-45
Is that a Shaggy reference? 😉😂
StevenIzzi · 51-55, M
Mohawk.....Nuff said!!!
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
Early 90’s when tropical prints were in style, some of those shirts I wore were loud prints….and I had my long hair permed so that on top of it.
Tres13 · 51-55, M
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Tres13 I still have the last shirt I sewed out of tropical print, kept it for old time’s sake. 😂..what was I thinking. And then maybe a decade later walking from the parking lot a couple blocks to my workplace I noticed how conservative the students had gotten with their clothing colors and styles, and I thought “How boring”….😂….it had been a few years since the fluorescent color phase had faded….
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
In my highschool years (2011-15) I hung too much around those emo and goth kids.

I never considered myself that way but my friend circles intertwined. So they did have at least a small influence on me.
romper69 · 51-55, M
Age 12 onwards
JustNik · 51-55, F
From 17 to 24 was the worst. I was tired of being lonely so I became the ditzy blond who liked to party. Not much about that time that doesn’t make me cringe. 😖
When I used to smoke heroin (started getting into it again recently). It fills a very huge void in my life that Ive been deprived of.

As a kid I wanted to be glam like old movie starlets. I still like the look of it. I'm just not too down with a lot of makeup on myself.
ChrisNBillings · 26-30, M
Gagster also...baggy pants, high tops and sh*t like that. I just pulled myself out of that. 😆
SW-User
I stalked a girl. I wasn't too crazy about it. But still...
SubstantialKick · 31-35, M
@SW-User I kind of did that myself, unknowingly. Not something that I am proud of.
My drunk days.
wackidywack · 22-25
i used to try to be cooler than I was, that was weird lmao
Axelerator · 26-30, M
A white knight overly respectful phase when I was around 18

Mine is probably my goth phase circa 2006
@SkeetSkeet Woah. You’d be kind hot as goth. 🥴
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
Tom boy phase
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@stratosranger how did you know? 🤣
Just a hunch. I’ll bet that tomboy phase conveniently ended when you got caught
@iamonfire696
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
