I’ve been in your situation, but thankfully left that toxic job.
I did exactly the same as you - worked like crazy during the day, then carried on after I’d got home.
In the end, it became obvious to me that the amount of work I was expected to do exceeded my ability to do it, and that I was doing tasks that my seniors should have been doing, but were too lazy to do it.
They then tried using COVID to increase my hours and decrease my pay package, so I went to a solicitor (lawyer) and called their bluff. My solicitor threatened them with legal action, and I left with them settling out of court.
My advice? Get out of there. They don’t care about you and never will, and when it suits them they’ll try anything to move you on somehow. This is life sadly - you absolutely have to look after yourself, because very few other people will.
Just my experience.

@Oneofthestormboys Thank you so much for sharing your experience. It is very nice of you. 🙏🏼 the thing with my job is that I am a resident and I've got only 2 more years to finish the specialty and become an attending. So if I drop from work now I'll be giving up the past two years and the specialty in general. It is a very good one, but the circumstances I'm working in are a catastrophe.

@Friendlyperson Hang in there then poppet. It’ll all work out for you in the end. Hard working people generally do ok in life, despite the attempts of others to derail you.
Best of luck 🍀

Always remember it’s just a job please please please do not let it drag you down, there are way more important things in life, I know it might feel like a huge deal but I’ve had shit times at work and look back now thinking why did I stress so much everything always worked its self out.
Friendlyperson · 26-30, F
@IanAll I realize I should not be stressing this much and I tell my brain that over and over and it calms for like 05min before flaring up again with toxic thoughts. It is a constant struggle to be honest... but I'm surviving.

@Friendlyperson I’ve had some really low times related to work and here I am exactly the same whether I’d got stressed about them or not. If it’s just that you think you’re a bit slow at the job that’s not a bad thing, I have a trainee working under me and I always remind her to take her time, it’s more important to get the work done correctly than rush and make mistakes. Hope you have a good day today ✌
Friendlyperson · 26-30, F
@IanAll Indeed. You are perfectly right.
Thank you so much... you have no idea how grateful I am to having your support guys.

Maybe you are overthinking everything too much..
What kind of work do you do? Is it something that can be measured against your co-workers?
What do you think is causing you to slow down? Does your mind drift off into thoughts on occasion, or are you needing more breaks than others?

1- I am a resident doctor
2- I'm not sure. But some of my friends are really quick.
3- I started feeling quickly overwhelmed and stressed and tired...
What I believe is the reason: I have bipolar type 2, I think I'm getting depressed...

@Friendlyperson A doctor really has to be able to see people from a third party perspective, you can't let yourself be dragged into their problems, it just isn't possible to absorb all that. Lots of jobs up here in Canada for doctors. Find a small town with a house facing the ocean. Might change your life.

To me, I just get my work done, the best it can be, I take my time, and if it takes longer so be it, no sweat, tomorrow is a another day, and I go home relax
Friendlyperson · 26-30, F
@Lilnonames
I hope it is as easy as that. 🥹🙏🏼

@NativePortlander1970 I am giving myselfa challenge of sleeping early (normal range would be at 10pm or if I get late that would be 11pm...) so I'm trying to do my best regarding the sleeping cycle...
But the mental exhaustion from work is something I should really find a solution to... and taking a vacation is unfortunately not a option now

@Friendlyperson Do You have a zoo nearby or a museum? Those are both great for mental resets, or even a light hearted comedy at the theater.
Friendlyperson · 26-30, F
@NativePortlander1970 No... but I'll try going to one that is a bit far.
