Is she hungry?
Mbingh01 · 61-69, F
I have lived in the same house for 42 years. I have a neighbor that has come over a few times (uninvited) and has hung out for 4-5 hours. Both her and her mom are “ disabled” 🧐 that’s bs. But anyway the last time she came over I just did laundry, cooked myself food and was just borderline rude. I think she got the message. There are givers and takers. They have absolutely nothing to give. In case of an emergency, of course I would help. Otherwise, I’m not falling for the poor pitiful me.
Ohio? I used to live across the river and they would do this sorta thing whenever I visited corn country. Was weird. The flatness gets to you after a while, makes you do strange things.

My worst fear is an annoying neighbor. Start asking her for favors. People usually fall back when you give them random tasks.

@Selah I don’t really like to become friends with my neighbours to be honest. I’ve seen some really big fights between neighbours who were best friends and I don’t want to come to the point where I don’t want to come home to my own house for fear that someone’s going to be there interrupting me and coming over. This is my personal space and I’m not sharing it with people unless it’s on my terms

Save some dirty dishes say you can come in but have to help do the dishes while I cook.

neighbour's can make their neighbours move. I had a neighbour who's last two neighbours made her reluctantly run back to a boyfriend she was unsure of...one was always at her door or banging on her walls when they thought she was loud and she wasn't. Two apartments within three months had her fleeing for her life

Tell her you're not available at certain times, because you're keeping your schedule and if not kept it really messes up everything else. Then suggest times that work better for you for her to hammer on your door.
Jenny1234 · 56-60, F
@come2gether that’s the problem. I think if I told her she would likely not understand because she barely speaks any English and she tries to speak to me with the three or four words that she knows and with hand gestures
Plus, she keeps saying the word church ‘you go church’ and I’m not going there

@Jenny1234 oh, peculiar indeed. She's trying to save you apparently. According to her, I mean.
Jenny1234 · 56-60, F
@come2gether I truly think she is!

She’s either lonely in need of a friend or worse, she’s trying to convert you.
Wanderer1964 · 56-60, M
Is there anything you can do ....within reason ...that would make her uncomfortable enough ...to not visit ??
pdockal · 56-60, M
Hey a ring doorbell and you can answer from your phone and say your busy ... or better use an automated response
Lilymoon · F
My neighbor used to do that too until I started ignoring her.
Cruel to be kind. 🤷♀️

Can't you politely say you're busy?
bookerdana · M
She sounds lonely....why not set boundaries such as please call before visiting
SomeMichGuy · M
Has this abated?
pancakeslam · 41-45, M
your neighbor visits AND you open the door? not what I'd expect from a SWeeple ffs 😀 must be a Canadian thing because we don't do that here.
Jenny1234 · 56-60, F
@pancakeslam yes i do sometimes
pancakeslam · 41-45, M
@Jenny1234 have you tried removing the doorbell?
Jenny1234 · 56-60, F
@pancakeslam i should try that!!
😬
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
I would just tell her that you’re in the middle of dinner and tell her you’re not up for company at the moment.

@Jenny1234 don’t let her in. Or does she barge through?
Jenny1234 · 56-60, F
@iamonfire696 she doesn’t barge through. She stays on the doorstep.

She probably wants some of what you're cooking.
