a cup of homemade yogurt that got pushed to the back of the refrigerator and forgotten about for almost a month. The lid had gotten loosened and the liquid evaporated so it was about a half a cup. I got it out and looked at it, no mold and I was brave enough to taste it. I liked it enough to start making bigger batches of yogurt and straining in a colander and making yogurt cheese. An accidental creation that I kept doing. Didn’t know back then it was a common food in the Middle East.
@MellyMel22 That’s exactly what you need to get you started. If you live in the USA you can check homemaker extension groups in your area and agricultural colleges usually are connected to them. They have one in almost every county here.
someone put the groceries away while tired. I once found a thing of mustard. And my entire family hates mustard, no one had any recollection of having ever purchased mustard, or ever even used mustard. Indeed, when i opened it, it still had the seal thingy on it. So . . . anyone need an unopened thing of mustard?
@Icetrey they can’t take something back that’s cold like that so I kept it. Too far out into the country to bring it back anyway and it was night time.
@Icetrey yep, anything frozen or refrigerated has to be thrown in the trash, they can’t sell it. Why let it go to waste? Too bad they didn’t put a whole beef brisket in my bag.
A year old, opened jar of spaghetti sauce. While having an opened jar of spaghetti sauce isn't all that unusual..., looking into a jar so old was quite surprising and dare I say, one of the most unusual things I've ever experienced inside my fridge.
I have a few things that might seem weird to others. Mushroom spores, a jar of alcohol in the freezer to concentrate plant oils, ground up pumpkin seeds for the cats... The spores and plants are all legal by the way.😆 Loin's mane and oyster mushrooms, and the plants are called yerba santa, they grow all over the place here.
Put them in the freezer or outside: While this sounds like an unusual method, putting your shoes in the freezer is a highly effective way to kill the bacteria that cause shoe odors (the bacteria is no match for the extreme cold). However, before you just toss your shoes into the freezer, it’s best to put them in a plastic bag first so you don’t contaminate your freezer and its contents. Leave the shoes inside overnight, then and take them out and let them thaw a bit before wearing. And if you happen to live in a climate where the temperature regularly drops below freezing at night, putting the shoes in a paper bag and leaving them out for the night isn’t a bad idea either!
No idea -- it was on the bottom shelf, way in the back, out of sight behind things, and when I opened the tupperware I had no idea what i was looking at.
@cherokeepattiI don’t. My children’s father sleeps on the couch and he does. Especially when he drinks, so it’s been looking like him. The kitchen and bathroom(where it was) are a pretty big distance so it’s odd 😆
@MellyMel22 Have known some who would get up and sleep eat at night, it looked like an animal had been in the house leaving a trail of food and empty containers.
@WaryWitchWanderingYeah, I would too. I didn’t touch that bottle in awhile though. Maybe my daughter 😆 I just remembered to ask her before posting this. No answer yet though.
I used to put my keys on top of the container when I took food to the office for potlucks. I might forget the food, but I never forgot my keys, so… But I had to explain that to my husband because a couple of times he saw them and took them out, thinking I’d just been absentminded.
@SW-User It seems it was their drunk father who sleeps in a room that’s between the kitchen and the bathroom(where that bottle was). He sleep walks too 🙄
