Question, should I befriend my husband cousin?

It's a cousin from his father side of the family
I really like her (as a friend of course) and wants to be her friend and we get along well but the only reason I don't really tried being her friend is because the relationship they have with my mother-in-law is so so, sometimes good and sometimes not so good.

For me I have a good relationship with my mom in-law and I don't want to ruined that.
Do you think becoming her friend would ruined it?

People from my husband family already knows we get along well but I keep my distance because I'm scared of the future 😔
I really want to be her friend though

Interpersonal politics is so hard. I think you're on about it the right way. Maybe bring it up to the cousin. Let her know you see that things aren't the best with certain people but that if she's willing to be friends despite that than that would make you happy. See how that goes.

@froggtongue thanks but it isn't worth it bringing it up with her. Lol

If being a friend with someone, anyone, is a problem with your MIL, then she has the problem.
If you like her and get along, go for it

@Teslin it's not a problem like that but it's more of like my mother in-law and her mother are married into the same family and sometimes I'd say there's misunderstanding between them and they would get mad at each other lol 😅 but this doesn't have anything to do with the cousin i guess

@Dontunderestimateme Exactly, you hit the nail on the head. It has nothing to do with you.

It’s all family. I think it’s a nice idea!

So you feel like a Hatfield and McCoy situation as if you are being friends with the enemy persay? Because shes from the side of the family where your mom in law has beef. So you dont want to be in the middle? Thats what im getting from you
Dontunderestimateme · 22-25, FNew
@AngelUnforgiven hahaha kind of.. they don't fight often but I'm a neutral person.. sometimes I don't agree with either side opinion but i just hear them vent about one another lol

@Dontunderestimateme got it! I would not let someone else's petty situations dictate my friendships. You have to do what's best for you in life. Sounds like her friendship makes you happy. You deserve that!
Dontunderestimateme · 22-25, FNew
@AngelUnforgiven thank you for making that clear for me 😅❤

If you spoked to your mother in law first and see what she says then maybe
Oh go ahead and make a new friend
Dontunderestimateme · 22-25, FNew
@BiasForAction it's that easy? Haha I'm a so called friend towards her.. like i do befriend her but with a distance 😅
@Dontunderestimateme I’m just thinking we could all use more friends — you can only make an overture
Dontunderestimateme · 22-25, FNew
@BiasForAction thank you sir
