They end up seeing it as a betrayal. If you're my friend you can't like or tolerate people I don't like. It doesn't make a lot of sense, but people don't often make sense. It can also get you to awkward places.

Because the feelings between exes are often very complicated. And if the friend knew how much the person had cared, it feels like a betrayal. A loyal friend (and a smart person), won’t go near a friend’s ex. There are too many other options.

Love and hate are the two most closely associated emotions.
Most people want to forget an ex for various reasons.
Having a friend get into the middle of either of those emotions goes together like fire mixes with ice.

I'd assume it's because it reminds them that they're not special or not good enough.
It's kinda like if you buy a dog, but it prefers hanging out with your friend over you. It's a low feeling

I think, because in your friends mind, that is THEIR property somehow, even though they don't want it anymore.

Still dealing with their emotions I'm guessing, especially if their ex dumped them.

Simple jealousy.

Because they expected you to support their relationship, instead of trying to break it.

Especially when I sleep with the bf

I think that is typical if the breakup was a nasty one.
hunkalove · 61-69, M
If you're getting some sleep why would they care?
