Definitely red wine

I'm not really a drinker, but I've tasted some Brunello ("brown") wine and I thought it was excellent!

@Adeptlinguist Jeez, and I was trying to sneak in a third category – brown wine!!
@ElwoodBlues Nah - it’s red. Sorry 😀
Midlifemale · 61-69, M
@Adeptlinguist Mine also
I like both, I have a special affinity to ports, (particularly tawny port) and rieslings.

There is one very special wine I fell in love with, but I can no longer find it
(Amazon, when they still sold alcohol, used to sell it):

@bijouxbroussard Do you drink port as a beverage with a meal? If I buy port, it is to sip later on in the evening. I prefer a much drier wine with food.
@bijouxbroussard if you like the oxidative aspect of tawny I wonder if you might also like sherry, Madeira, Pineau des Charentes, perhaps also vin jaune from Jura
@OlderSometimesWiser I just checked again—now they deliver to where I am, they didn’t initially. Time to stock up. 😊

@DrWatson I don’t drink it with meals; I’ll occasionally have a glass by itself or with cheese.

@BlueGreenGrey I love sherry & madeira, I’ll have to check that out 👍🏽

The top pic is a Domaine Chavy Puligny Chardonnay, that's going to set you back 100 Euros+

90% of the Puligny-Montrachet area is going to be Chardonnay varieties.

I don't drink wine on its own, but I pair it with food.

I prefer red wines and we have some great wineries in the Walla Walla area of Washington and the Willamette Valley of Oregon.
I love both whites and reds, but I prefer reds just a bit more (and this is independent of any season, just as I think it's silly to not drink brown spirits in summer)

I prefer dry, still wines to sparkling, sweet or dessert wines

I like the occasional dry rosé, but it usually seems like a waste of red grapes even if I like it ... now a rosé made strictly from pink / grey grapes would not seem like a waste (e.g., piquepoul gris, garnacha roja)

I still haven't tried any "orange" / "amber" wines that I recall, and I wonder if they would similarly make me think of white wines as a waste of white grapes

I've tried at least 100 different vinifera grape varieties, and I like them all, I love variety in wine, so it's impossible for me to choose real favorites ... but I do often think of grapes such as sangiovese and cool climate versions of syrah (not the fruit bomb versions), and obscure grapes like romorantin from the Loire, and flinty dry riesling from the Nahe is the benchmark for riesling to me

No wines for me, the salicylates in it do a number on my joints, causes painful deposits for a long time.
Adogslife · 61-69, M
I don’t drink, but my wife enjoys wine. She’s more of a red drinker during winter and rosé during summer.
Pink or rose wine but Chardonnay and Sauvignon blanc close second. I don’t mind red if it’s eaten with roast dinner.
KingofBones1 · 46-50, M
I am a red wine kind of guy also because it is more healthier for my heart however I do like a good Barefoot White with things like seafood
Cigarguy101 · 41-45, M
If I had to drink wine I'd go with white. Not a fan of red wine it's to dry for me
MrGrumpy · M
I prefer red. I believe it keeps my heart healthy and the antioxidants help me look youthful 😜
DailyFlash · 56-60, M
Depends on what I'm eating. But if I'm sipping wine by itself, I like dry rose or sparkling wine.

CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
Red but not dry and sour. I don't like those. Rich, thick, semi-dry is okay.
emmasfriend · 46-50, F
My favourite is Volnay (when I can afford it !)

Jenny1234 · 56-60, F
I like sweet wines. I’ve only drink red because I am very allergic to white wine.
DrWatson · 70-79, M
I can appreciate a "good" red wine more than I can a "good" white wine.

In fact, the only white wine I like is really cheap stuff that probably would make a wine aficionado gag! 😂
I used to drink red when I would drink ...but don't anymore
Lilymoon · F
I like both but mostly red 🍷
