We are physically intended to be omnivores. We need meat for proper nutrition. Also, it's yummy. ☺️🥓🥩🍗🍖🍔🌭😋💞
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M

I was involved with a man who did all our meal planning and cooking. At one point he decided to go vegan with our meals without telling me. I ended up so cold I had on sweats layered over a t-shirt and had two blankets over me trying to get warm. I told him I needed protein so he went and bought some fish and cooked it. Within an hour after eating the fish I was warm enough to get rid is the blankets and sweats. Vegan just doesn’t work for everyone. And I am one of them.

The cows are vegetarian
Especially for older people, it is difficult to meet protein requirements from a non-meat/fish/dairy diet. Very few plant sources provide all the essential amino acids (complete proteins) and to even come close with only plant-based foods requires a lot more calories (one food providing an amino acid absent from or in short supply in another food) .
An 81 year old friend at the gym whom I see doing pull-ups tells me the portein is necessary for his strength training which is essential for healthy senescence. There are some good youtube videos on protein intake and strength training for older folks.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
I crave quality protein is why. Need that to nourish the glands. That’s not to say I don’t enjoy some vegan or vegetarian dishes though.
GerOttman · 61-69, M
the cow eats the grass, I eats the cow. I'm like a second tier vegan!
Nimbus · M
@GerOttman 👍
Nitedoc · 51-55, M

Stuff like this.

Docdon23 · M
I have been vegan 18 years and wish I had started earlier--so healthy and so ethical and so environmentally helpful
milkymum1 · 36-40, F
@Docdon23 how is it environmentally helpful
Docdon23 · M
@milkymum1 the amount of resources--water and others--used to produce animals is much more and wasteful, and believe it or not animal farts contribute to global warming, and we over produce cows just to eat them...animals for food also deplete other resources...I learned all this after I became vegan (which I originally did for health and it has worked miracles for my health--my doctor was so shocked he borrowed the book I first used, by a heart doctor)...
Queendragonfly · 31-35, F
I struggle to eat, and especially big portions big portions.

If I'm a meat eater I can just snack a little meat and I will have the energy and protein I need to be healthy and strong.

If I'm a vegetarian I must eat much bigger portions and there's several veggies I don't like.

I followed a vegetarian friend's food routines for three days and I was so weak in my body I couldn't even carry a grocery bag home.

I would have to eat 3 times what I normally eat and that's never gonna happen.
milkymum1 · 36-40, F
Healthier better tatse and overall cheqper for the environment

Meat rhymes with eat for a reason. It's a law of nature.
Lilymoon · F
I'd lose too much weight and I'd be hungry all the time. 🤷‍♀️
DrWatson · 70-79, M
I enjoy meat and do not feel guilty about killing animals for food.
Rainandforest · 26-30, F

And as my dad says "Who has ever returned from a night of drinking and said I could muder a salad?"
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
Preference, taste, and health. I've gone through periods where I greatly reduce my meat intake, it was alright.
nedkelly · 61-69, M
Nothing better than a juicy piece of steak

Why giving up meat I may as well be a Liverpool supporter, no fuckin brains
TrashCat · M
God intended for me to eat meat. Lots and lots of random, anonymous meat
shuhak · M
Simple - I don't like vegetables (of course, I'm not really fond of meat either).
