Do you think his dad is an imaginary character?

Decades ago I worked in an office with an older co-worker who had pretty much killed off almost every member of her family for bereavement leave.

The others knew her to be an alcoholic who periodically went on binges, had participated in company-mandated rehab…twice.
Her absence meant extra work for us, often rushed because of deadlines.

The end came when the boss received a tearful call from our colleague reporting that she wasn’t coming to work because her dear mother had passed away.

Our boss had to advise her that miraculously, her late mother had stopped by the office that very morning, looking for her, and had asked her to please get back in touch with her family. 😳

Don’t know how true this is, I read it on the internet, but this guy had an employee who over the course of a few years called out of work on four occasions claiming her grandmother died. He confronted her about it. Turns out she had two gay biological grandmothers and two step grandmothers.

I’m not sure why you care so much. People have secrets, some tell lies for a variety of reasons. Just accept that you may not believe everything he says and let him live his life. People are so nosey and focused on other people’s business

Who cares if he's lying or not. Then again I guess I wouldn't understand as I avoid talking to literally everyone and anyone at work at all costs so maybe I'm the odd one who just doesn't care 😔

I stay in my own lane.

Once I stopped mentally living other people's lives.. lots of free head space.

And it could be that his dad is visiting because he's sick — like,terminal —and he wants to spend as much time with his dad as possible before his dad shuffles off this mortal coil.

Could be a personality disorder 🤔 like in Mr Robot, the main character created an imaginary character of his dead father.
