It has definitely gotten way more expensive, but it’s still possible if you do the $5 meal deals or use the app for deals and rewards.
separatetheheart · 31-35, M
@itsok the app is the way to go

Our family never had McDonalds for a meal when I was growing up. There were McDonalds in town but so many other good places to get food to take home…fried chicken stands, hamburger stands, etc.

A bk combo is close to $15 now. It’s best to cook your own food. Cheaper and healthier imo
separatetheheart · 31-35, M
@Younameit That's wild and for a single person too.
Wallflow3r · 31-35, F
Fast food is so expensive now! It’s almost $40 for 2 people..
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
Just cook it at home

@cherokeepatti u could easily feed a family of 4 for $30 dollars
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@smileylovesgaming Typically most restaurant food cooked at home can be made for a third of the price, and many times with leftovers. The food quality and flavor is so much better. I try to avoid food with mono sodium glutamate and haven’t for 17 years, after discovering it was causing me to have heart palpitations.
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
@cherokeepatti I much rather cook hamburgers at home. I can make a few extras for the hudband can eat at work if he wanted

Sounds about right

You are not crazy. When I was a kid you got a cheeseburger, fries and a soda. Their advertising use to say "Change back from your dollar".
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Musicman I worked my butt off doing chores around the house and in the yard. If I hadn’t probably wouldn’t have gotten a penny.
NativePortlander1970 · 51-55
@Musicman My earliest memories are $0.24 cheeseburgers and $0.19 hamburgers with $0.19 fries, maybe about 4 years old in 1974, those cheeseburgers looked huge to my four year old self.

@Musicman are you glad he made you work because school doesn’t pay unless you’re doing an apprenticeship
Roundandroundwego · 61-69
In the late nineties a happy meal was three dollars.
separatetheheart · 31-35, M
@Roundandroundwego The toys were cooler too. My mom took us there often
helenoftroy2000 · 22-25, F
Instead of 4 it's 2.5 now

@NativePortlander1970 That's my go to meal actually. Medium with a dr.pepper
NativePortlander1970 · 51-55
@separatetheheart Insane that it costs almost three times more than when you were born.
separatetheheart · 31-35, M
@NativePortlander1970 It's just wild how much it costs nowadays. I went to wendys not long ago and it was pushing $15 for just me.
