Well as they say, the star that shines the brightest burns out the fastest. Early bloomers typically don't last really long in life (including so called child prodigies). It's the late bloomers like myself that actually do succeed in the grand scheme. Although there's always exceptions, but they don't disprove the general rule.

My high school was never like in movies or tv, but I will say that most of the people that peaked or imagine they peaked really went downhill after graduation.
