I'm giving up coffee

that stuff is evil

decaff from now on

Because of high anxiety I had to give up caffeine. Almost a month clean. :( I miss it.

@Samek I was probably drinking two pots a day when I was a retail manager, and all of a sudden it just HIT me...and I started having anxiety attacks, also. For a year or two, I had to be careful not to take cold medicine with certain ingredients, and couldn't eat chocolate, or drink caffeinated beverages, or even eat things containing sugar.

THEN I learned how to stop and calm myself when the attacks first began. If you can cool your jets within the first minute, you can actually make the attack stop.

@4meAndyou got good at breathing over the years but had a 5 day anxiety attack earlier in the month and it was intense. Had no idea why until I was able to self reflect. A lot of stress in a short amount of time and I must have overdone it with caff/nic on top of it all. On HBP meds now, month free from caff. Still haven't kicked the nic or sugar... One thing at a time.

@Samek I wish you the best of luck in your battle. I never had it that badly, and usually an hour or so lying down with a cold wet washcloth over my eyes made me feel lots better quickly.

Even though I love it, I totally understand. I quit cold turkey after a panic attack and it took me a good amount of time to trust caffeine being in my system again. Several years later I still find myself weary enough to limit myself to one, maybe two cups of coffee a day. It’s all about listening to your body and working with it, not against it.

@PerfectionOfTheHeart so very true. It's been a journey for myself. A scary one. :/

@Samek Right there with ya. Anxiety is a tricky beast that doesn’t know how to let go, no matter how much closure and distance there is from it. That’s why you have to focus on one breath at a time on your journey. One breath, one step, no matter how hard they can be to take…take them. Over time your perseverance will become a fiercer force than the anxiety within that unforgivingly tries to rewrite the narrative.

That's the saddest thing I have ever heard 😔

It made my blood pressure increase way too much and I had to give it up. Also likely a cause of having developed a breast cyst.
I’ve heard that decaf ain’t so great either. 🤔

What anxieties I've ever dealt with had no association to coffee .. except for when I was out of coffee.

I get that it affects some that way, but have been lucky enough to never experience it so far.

I gave up coffee and cigarettes all the same day.

I understand this , if it’s needed .. sure , ooo be careful tho … sometimes migraines are a thing when that happens from the withdrawal symptoms 😘
