Wish I knew how my Grandmother and Aunt made potato salad, I've never had any better.

One of those things lost to the past.😒

I make it all the time and just improvise the dressing once the potatoes are done. It’s never the same twice but always turns out good. Just find a recipe and start experimenting. Eventually, you’ll find an approach that’s your own, and in many years down the road, you might have relatives wondering why nobody wrote your recipe down.
try my Grandma's recipe. sliced potatoes, celery, sliced onions, sliced cherry tomatoes, black olives, green olives. salt, pepper , wine vinegar and olive oil. holds up if used for a picnic

@saragoodtimes Very table pretty too.

What did it taste like?

@UnderLockDown No, I mean was it an eggy potato salad, or a German potato salad with vinegar dressing, or a mayonnaise and celery and onion potato salad?
@4meAndyou It had mayo and mustard, and tiny bit of dill pickle juice, and part of the potatoes were mashed before being mixed with the mayo, and then the potato chunks were added. I just can't figure out the seasonings that she used.
Her deviled eggs were the best too.😋
Mean woman, but she could cook like nobody's business.😆😆
@4meAndyou It had some hard boiled eggs too.

My mom made the best potato salad too. Sadly we didn't get her recipe either. ☹

The recipe is simple, boiled starchy potatoes, mayo, a touch of mustard, salt, pepper, celery salt, and sliced boiled eggs.
@NativePortlander1970 They had secrets to make it taste special.🤷‍♂ Have never been able to duplicate it exactly.
@UnderLockDown Don't try to duplicate it, make it your own, play around with it.
@UnderLockDown I roast the potato chunks to crispy after tossing lightly in seasoned olive oil, then mix the egg yolk in with the mayo and mustard before tossing it with the sliced boiled egg.
