Ever tried cooking pasta in milk?

Yes, correct, milk instead of water. You let the pasta soak up all the milk until fully cooked instead of draining it. Lol. Call me quirky & unconventional but that was sooo good 🤤

Never tried it. I typically don't like white sauces.

I just cooked pasta in squid ink, and served it with a prawns/mushrooms sauce for lunch.

@SW-User Then it would be kind of difficult to explain the taste.

I am a huge fan of Sushi and Sashimi. That said, if you eat raw fish, that tastes, or smells "fishy", then it's definitely NOT fresh. My statement may seem odd, because we're talking about fish, after all. But, fresh fish, should not taste fishy. Same with Squid ink, while it tastes like fish, it's NOT fishy.
SW-User
Then it must be unique which kinda piques my interest. I saw pics and it doesn't sound or look appealing but I think I may give it a shy try like a small bite for the sake of adventure lol @Northwest
Used whipped milk and it was surprisingly good.
SW-User
I’ve heard of whipped cream or frothed milk. How do you make whipped milk?
@jjoe01
@SW-User I just buy it from the market, comes in quarts.
I’m more impressed with the Megaforce gif

I remember watching Casper when I was a little kid and I thought it was confusing & creepy even when I had a crush on Casper in ghost form haha. I couldn't understand the storyline. I was like 6 and at that time I didn't speak English at all and was hardly able to pick & read few words from the continuous subtitles. I watched it again when I was in my early 20s and suddenly everything fell into place. It's such a cute movie 👻
@Ghostinthemachine
@SW-User I remember reading my cousins Casper comics and wondering what it would be like to be a ghost.
Now I know 👻
SW-User
Loool that's brilliant once again @Ghostinthemachine

Hey quirky and unconventional, I’m gary. I have never heard of such a thing. I love your idea and I plan to try it. What sauces have you tried with your recipe and any other fun things to share?

Do you know what Vegemite is?
SW-User
Vegemite is Australian to my best knowledge but I've never tried it

My recipe is to cook the pasta in milk with a bouillon cube, garlic powder, and dried oregano&parsley. Then mix in butter & mozzarella right before serving. I will experiment with this method more for sure
@gdon39
gdon39 · 46-50, M
@SW-User I use Vegemite instead of beef bullion cubes. I actually use it in many dishes but I keep that to myself generally bc people may like the dish but some people just like to freak out about it. Lol
SW-User
Gotta appreciate the creativity 👏🏽@gdon39
MrAboo · 36-40, M
Sounds tasty, but milk is to expensive to use that way.
SW-User
As I said it's up to you. I was trying to be frugal and save you, like financially, lol. The more milk the better of course but sometimes life teaches you to make sacrifices 🤷🏽‍♀️
@MrAboo
MrAboo · 36-40, M
@SW-User if I ever get a cow in my lifetime than I’ll try boiling noodles in milk. 😉
SW-User
Awh. Here 🎁
@MrAboo
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
What time should i be there😋
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
@SW-User i miss everything😞
SW-User
okay okay I'll fix you a plate on the weekend @Virgo79
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
@SW-User deal😁
SW-User
This sounds soooo good. When I'm making chili I usually throw past in there and let the pasta cook in the chili
SW-User
Good idea. I bet that would "incorporate" the flavors within the pasta itself instead of just "coating" it with sauce @SW-User
SW-User
@SW-User yep it’s an amazing meal, full of flavor
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
The first mac & cheese recipe had the pasta cooked in milk.
SW-User
Wow, interesting and I thought that was a no-no lmao @JimboSaturn
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
@SW-User I saw it on this documentary about the influence of back culture in American food. It was on Netflix I think it was called High on the Hog
SW-User
Added to my watchlist ✅ @JimboSaturn
Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
Milk, butter and some garlic salt, parsley.
Grated cheese and grated broccoli. Yummy
SW-User
Girl you figured it out 👌🏽
I added garlic powder, dried parsley & oregano and a bouillon cube with the milk then mozzarella cheese & butter at last
@Mellowgirl
Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
@SW-User 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
SW-User
i never tried it. brilliant idea for mac n cheese. def gonna do it soon
SW-User
It's got such a rich flavor but lighter than heavy cream imo. You just make sure the milk don't boil over, lol @SW-User
SW-User
@SW-User i can imagine it needs to be watched and stirred more over a careful flame, kinda like risotto. and i use grass-fed whole milk, so it's gonna be nearly like cream when i do it... i bet
SW-User
Correct you gotta be more watchful than usual but it's worth it @SW-User
AngelKrish · 26-30, M
Adding little cheese, black pepper, oregano, corns, Little capsicum.🤤
SW-User
Sounds like an Indian adaptation 🇮🇳👍🏽@AngelKrish
AstroZombie · 36-40, M
Puts a new spin on macaroni and cheese, that's for sure. I'll have to give that a try some time.
SW-User
I'm afraid to try it, but it's an interesting idea.
SW-User
Toughen up @SW-User
SW-User
@SW-User I would, but I'm not a big fan of milk nor pasta. lol
SW-User
Fair enough @SW-User
Nanori · F
Try pasta alfredo with chicken it's cooked with milk and cheese
SW-User
That would make for a nice lunch. Mine is more like a quick fix to eat in bed when slightly sick 😷 lol @Nanori
Kae20 · 61-69, FVIP
😊 looks nice ..I might just try it .
How much milk did you need?
SW-User
Just enough to cover the pasta. I used 1 cup milk for 1 serving
@WonderGirl
Ferric67 · M
You have my fullest attention

I'll take that as a compliment. Thanks 😌@Ferric67
Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M

Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
Looks great to me
SW-User
No ty but hey you enjoy
SW-User
Dang, that looks delish!
SW-User
Thanks 🖖🏽@SW-User
I’ve cooked rice that way, so it makes sense. My friend cooks macaroni & cheese that way, says it makes it creamier.
@SW-User Yes. Some recipes mango and others, pineapple.
SW-User
Sounds refreshing @bijouxbroussard
Lowkey · M
@bijouxbroussard bought a bag of Forbidden rice from Costco, it was different, in a good way!
i have done it before. it is good
SW-User

Hatt94 · 56-60, MVIP
Do you boil the milk?
I think it would be bad after.
SW-User
You put the pasta in room-temperature or cold milk and cook them together from the start @Hatt94
SW-User
YOU DID WHAT NOW? 😱 DO YOU HAVE MAYONNAISE ON YOUR CEREAL? 🤔
SW-User
Don't knock it till you try it 😉@SW-User
SW-User
Hmm, I'd have to add cheese, black pepper. Maybe garlic or onion powder, but looks good😋
SW-User
Cook the pasta in milk with a bouillon cube, garlic powder, and dried oregano&parsley. Then mix in butter & mozzarella right before serving
That's my recipe

NinaTina · 26-30, F
I like my pasta half cooked not mushy
SW-User
You can cook it up to your taste. Just use less milk if you wanna. I like mine saucy + it wasn't mushy at all
@NinaTina
