Has anyone baked a panettone?

Are they easy to bake and have you got a good recipe?

@Jenny1234 I do too, just I thought I want to bake one
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
@Justenjoyit are you good at baking?
Justenjoyit · 61-69, M
@Jenny1234 Not bad on a good day lol

No, they're a pain to make, they need to be left to rise while hanged upside down - it's unpractical at home and leads to messes. You're also not supposed to use typical commercial yeast but homegrown yeast from fermenting bread (idk how you call lievito madre in English.. mother yeast? 😅), which is a long pain to make and maintain.

No. I'd have a mental Bake down!

Waitrose dova packet mix one every year for about £4 or 25p after Christmas. I have only used those and they turned out very good. Otherwise I think they are quite fiddly.

@meggie I will look out for a ready mix and see how that goes, thank you

@Justenjoyit I'm sure other shops do it as well as waitrose, but only around Xmas time.

Never baked one, but I have eaten plenty.
Degbeme · 70-79, M
@Justenjoyit Yes it is. Every time I eat one I think of @saragoodtimes
@Degbeme but @saragoodtimes tastes so much better
Degbeme · 70-79, M
@saragoodtimes I`m sure she does. But that isn`t for me to know.
WillaKissing · 56-60, M
