all the bars I went to was popcorn, it was cheaper than nuts,

I remember one bar owner who always sprinkled a ridiculous amount of salt on the popcorn so people would get thirsty and drink more beer.

Never eat them, people don’t wash their hands. 😏

I remember that. Used to be able to smoke in bars too.

Used to love the free peanuts at a little bar in my college town. Snack on the peanuts, drink the beer, watch the DEAN MARTIN SHOW on their TV.

I dont remember that, but my friend's dad said someone used to come around to the bars and pubs selling whelks and a Jamaican lady selling Jamaican patties

i read somewhere, some time ago, tests on open bar snacks like that always showed high traces of male urine...

This was also big at the Texas Roadhouse where the peanut shells were tossed on the floor around the waiting to be seated area. That stopped with the pandemic

Yep, one place frequented with friends (decades ago) had a popcorn machine. Don't know if any locally do that anymore as I seldom frequent them. I can enjoy a beer and salty snack at home with my feet propped up and no wait for the restroom. 🤣

I'm afraid the days of bars and pubs being a friendly gathering place where conversations over a beer and a snack was why we went there, are gone. That and health regulations.

I can remember it, normally peanuts, but it ended a long time ago... thank goodness.
