I just finished a lunch of leftovers. I like to do a “fill the grill” Sundays with enough food to last a while. It’s an easy way to fix meals. I don’t eat out a lot. I also like simple meals but I try a lot of new things and I’ll spend a good amount of time cooking when I’m on vacation or out for holidays

@JohnnyNoir
I like to buy meats at reduced prices as much as possible.
In the supermarket I always go to the cheap counter first

@ArtieKat same. Wish it wasn’t in the very back because I feel like someone is stealing my food. Worst part is getting there and seeing folks gathered like vultures around it

@JohnnyNoir YEP!

I am a fair cook, also...probably not what you would call "elevated". but I used to do catering, and worked in a restaurant for about 3 weeks till my back gave out.
I just can't stop cooking for an army. AND I feel your pain, regarding the dishes.

@FreeSpirit1 You're lucky to cook for 2!
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
@come2gether I cook for two so I don't have to cook everyday

planning dinners is my favorite activity
come2gether · 41-45, M
@saragoodtimes I don't mind it, but it's just time consuming for me
saragoodtimes · F
@come2gether I have plenty of spare
There, there.

@OlderSometimesWiser um, that's bizarre....

Do you have a big freezer? I batch cook at the weekends when I have more time and freeze individual portions for later.
ArtieKat · M
@SunshineGirl That's the way I've always cooked
ArtieKat · M
@come2gether Have you thought about a fridge-freezer which works off bottled gas (propane like in a caravan?
come2gether · 41-45, M
@ArtieKat My current fridge/freezer is propane, it's too smalll for long term storage

Split the meal into two, half for lunch and half for tea.
come2gether · 41-45, M
@sunriselover I know "tea" is code for bourbon, but maybe, that would mean the same food twice in one day though. I'm picky like that
sunriselover · M
@come2gether in England we have lunch and tea. The latter you call dinner.
Yes, hsve the same meal twice. It saves cooking twice, bf you don’t throw away.

I agree. Whenever I'm alone, I'm fine with just making myself a cup of instant noodles for dinner rather can cook a large meal just for myself.
come2gether · 41-45, M
@Ducky Actually, that's funny.. I keep Thai Kitchen and Annie Chun's instant bowls on hand for when I'm desperate

i have a brother who will eat anything. so even if it is just the 2 of us, no leftovers. last night, he ate leftover pot roast, my ziti, his fettucine alfredo and spaghett. i ate the salad and cake.

I just don't like cooking period. I don't mind grilling though.
come2gether · 41-45, M
@Musicman Grilling is good too!
Musicman · 61-69, M
@come2gether The grill seems to give everything a nice flavor too. 😋
come2gether · 41-45, M
@Musicman yeah, it sure does
