These were things i could get and eat eaisly when i was younger before my parent's had me

I love chili for breakfast. Peanut butter french fries and peanut butter on burgers, two frozen waffles with American cheese and vegemite sandwich, or two frozen waffles with ice cream sandwiched in between.

Raw ramen noodles are great on salads

@gdon39 lmao, my boyfriend is black and scary but hes a sweetheart so
People just dont like what they dont like
gdon39 · 41-45, M
@Dlrannie I like Marmite too. A scone or biscuit with some marmite and double cream. yum.
Dlrannie · 31-35, F
@gdon39 It’s best on freshly made toast 😋😋😋🙂🐼🥢

Cane syrup over tamales (blush)

But I have diabetes, so without the cane syrup; but I still think about how much more comfort it would bring.
4meAndyou · F
@Heartlander I don't even know where to buy cane syrup...all we have here is Corn syrup and Maple syrup.😊
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@4meAndyou :( a few of the long term consequences of rationing during WW2. Sugar, butter, lard replaced by high fructose corn, margarine and vegetable cooking oils. Cane syrup is probably still a shelf item in the Gulf Coastal South, but otherwise the choice is maple syrup or molasses, which is also clinging to less and less shelf space. Hmmm? In our pantry may be the last remaining bottle of Brer Rabbit molasses :)

Syrups and sugar were big parts of comfort foods. Syrup and peanut butter blended before PBJ became popular. In terms of calories per penny and comfort, deep fried bread dough and hot syrup beat out donuts :)

@Heartlander Sounds fabulous! I have Grandma's Molasses...just a tiny bit left...in my cupboard, I use it when I make BBQ sauce. But I have also recently tasted ginger molasses cookies, and they seemed to soothe my stomach...must be the ginger.

Interesting bit of history, thanks!

Pizza, chocolate, milk tea

But if you want unusual, try Filipino street foods like isaw and kwek-kwek ;) They're SO good.
CrappyParentsInc · 18-21, F
@Casheyane milk tea is amazing, i love it with tapioca perals!
Casheyane · F
@CrappyParentsInc I don't like add-ons much but I know plenty others do. :)

Its usually the day after I needed comfort, that someone remarks upon the "Spring Cleaning" I did to the pantry.
It's all mundane really

Certain brands of soda
Pizza
Anything spicy
Crunchy stuff
Fried foods
Cereal
Milk with chocolate syrup and peanut butter.

Hot chocolate, buttered toast dipped in it.

Spicy Asian noodles.
Sidewinder · 36-40, M
@RosaMarie 😋 One of my favorites, too. Good for warming the gullet and gizzard on a cold winter's day. Might wanna have some tissues on stand-by, though, cause the spices therein really clear the sinuses.
4meAndyou · F
Those certainly are ODD. Mine used to be Stouffers Macaroni and Cheese...but I don't even like mac and cheese anymore. NOW I love Campbells Chunky Chicken and dumpling soup. Or almost any creamy soup.
Dlrannie · 31-35, F
Duck Tongues - it reminds of holiday’s visiting my Grandparents in Hong Kong as a youngster 🙂🐼🥢

Just a lot of potatoes
Azlotto · M
Pickled pork hocks.

Potted meat.

I'm a health nut.
Sautéed shredded Brussels sprouts, with hickory smoked tuna. Much better than it sounds, and very healthy.
