Fresh mussels collected this morning, prepped with slightly spicy tomato sauce, spices, and served on crusty bread. We call it impepata di cozze (sorry about the beer behind, but unfortunately I'm out of white wine lol).
@4meAndyou Ah damn. I can't say our waters are perfectly clear of pollutants either, especially the Adriatic, being a closed sea (Italians esp. on the opposite coast make memes about it like "found traces of sea in the Adriatic" 😅), but we try to collect them away from the rivers and the ship routes at least. Whereas, with bought ones, no one knows where they're from (and we're a primary hub for seafood, so most of the stuff in the market would still come from here).
@Elessar I live near Plymouth harbor. We know the boats in the harbor and the marina add their fuels to the water, and the yacht owner who hasn't peed or pooped while docked would be extremely rare. Our rocks are covered in periwinkle snails and seaweed here. But once I live in Hull, and the residents always dug for clams. They would usually find quahogs...much larger and tougher...but quahogs are good in stuffing. Even so...red tides seemed all too frequent. Caution seems best.
I would really enjoy some ramen. Not the instant kind, but miso dashi broth that has been brewing all day with firm yet fresh noodles with lots of mushrooms, scallions, tofu and radish and a bit of chili paste.
Realistically dinner will be a tomato, cucumber, basil, and mustard greens salad dressed in balsalmic, oil, herbs and spices.
@cherokeepatti Hahahahahaha! You are so wise and intelligent but absolutely, so very sweet and cute! I always have liked you and all your commentary!🤗🌺
Enjoy......I bet it does smell so good. My house too!
