What is for dinner ?

@Elessar Our beaches here are too polluted to collect mussels, although some people do. I think it is is not always safe...so I used to buy them.

@4meAndyou Ah damn. I can't say our waters are perfectly clear of pollutants either, especially the Adriatic, being a closed sea (Italians esp. on the opposite coast make memes about it like "found traces of sea in the Adriatic" 😅), but we try to collect them away from the rivers and the ship routes at least. Whereas, with bought ones, no one knows where they're from (and we're a primary hub for seafood, so most of the stuff in the market would still come from here).

@Elessar I live near Plymouth harbor. We know the boats in the harbor and the marina add their fuels to the water, and the yacht owner who hasn't peed or pooped while docked would be extremely rare. Our rocks are covered in periwinkle snails and seaweed here. But once I live in Hull, and the residents always dug for clams. They would usually find quahogs...much larger and tougher...but quahogs are good in stuffing. Even so...red tides seemed all too frequent. Caution seems best.
