Is your cardio fitness based on how fast you can run a mile? Does 2 miles really matter?

Because i can do a mile in 7:10, but then i'm gassed and just slow down and end up turning 2 miles into 20 minutes

To my understanding only a couple of minutes is used to measure your heart rate.

Yet... That 7:10 minutes seems very slow! I ran my first 6 minute mile in the 6th grade. 🤷🏻‍♂️

@MntoNc that 6 minute mile was a presidential ward run for all 6th grade schoolers! Only about ⅒ of the class won it.

Actually ran it in 5:58 seconds. Just barely enough to get the ward.

A few were much faster than me!

@MntoNc I said see doctor because I have no idea what is wrong with you physically.

It could be anything. Heck covid has been known to effect runners.

I Like to know how many miles I can go in a certain amount of time, for my own self competitive reasons.
My cardio involves more HITT interval training.
It gets the job done more efficiently.

@Adrift its better than "running" but what is actually really just jogging. What you do is good, because it builds muscle since its anaerobic.

It’s about your heart activity, not about how far you run.

@CakeByTheOcean yeah but id say the rate in which you could run a mile shows your fitness level. Obviously if it took you 15 minutes to run a mile you wouldnt be in great shape. But if it took you say, 6 minutes, youd be in great shape. Most people can't do 6 or 7 minutes though
