@AbbeyRhode Yes she is adorable. We walk into each other's houses all the time. One of us needs something so we walk right in. If my husband is cooking something that smells amazing, here she comes. Her husband is a nephrologist and runs a transplant team. He is rarely seen.

@TexChik It's lovely to have that friendship and trust with someone. Some people aren't that close with their own family members.

@AbbeyRhode I know. She has always been a good friend to me

FYI - They don't accept houses as payment.
Oh, and don't forget the ambulance ride to the Emergency Room - $14,500 (and you're not even conscious to enjoy the ride).
What gets me is the charge of $16,000 just to "see" the ER doctor for 15 seconds - just long enough for him to mutter, "you're fine, but we still need to run more tests", in some foreign language (an interpreter will cost you another $12,000).
Of course they have to jack up the prices. How else could they afford that 55" TV in the waiting room at Emergency ... that only shows the Food Network (with no volume).

@shuhak I am old enough to remember when hospitals were basic and bills much lower. No fancy interiors etc.
nedkelly · 61-69, M
All free in Australia when in hospital - regardless of income
@nedkelly It should be that way. People pay taxes all their lives. Also, this is normal human care, and every person is entitled to this under the Sun and God/dess.
I knew there was a reason those Aussies are so calm and fun to be around, their composure is not rattled or dissembled like the people from N.A. especially the U.S.

Sad for a supposedly developed country.

@WanderlustCat Quite astounding.

It’s ridiculous. If you get snake bit they might order up to 12 vials of snake serum at $8000-$12000 each. My uncle got snake bit in the 1960’s, had no insurance, they gave him one vial snake serum & treated him & he paid for it out of his savings, it wasn’t much. Now it’ll be $100,000 or more depending on how long they keep you.

It’s insane, I’ve seen articles where people with diabetes die because they can’t afford insulin…I don’t pay a penny and just don’t even have to think about it

My job offered me to move to the US together with my gf. But she has so many allergies and shit we wouldve been bankrupt on the flight over.
Not a normal approch to patient 'wellbeing'.
If I had my daughter there, same way as here, it would have cost 500k

It's pretty bad but that image is overblowing things.
