no but i gave all my money to my elder brother when he moved to another country.. it wasn't much tho just like a hundred bucks or so.. but he's bought me airline tickets since then to visit family out of state so he's way more that paid me back even tho i never asked nor wanted him to
i heard my one cousin loaned his bro 7k and he never paid him back tho..
my dad loaned money to his one bro and idk if they are still paying him back or already did but i personally don't loan or borrow unless it's temporary like i left my 5-20$ at home and don't have it on me or something 😒

Do my wife and kids count they always ask if they can borrow some money?
I did and after a few years I told them they didn’t have to pay me back.

We had a friend who borrowed $5K and took many years to finally pay it back.
I put the deposit down on an apartment for me and my ex.

Well I have given large sums of money before. I don't consider them lending though.
I don't give, expecting it back. Lending is a capitalist concept, that even expects greater returns. That is not giving, that is expecting something greater back. Therefore the giver becomes the receiver.
Noticed the paycheck statement. I find it interesting, because no employer will give back interest. 🤣
In no way is that paycheck a gift or lending. In fact it's less the interest, due them back, for not paying them immediately. 😈

Nope I will never lend a large sum of money to someone without drawing up a contract and laying out a payment plan. With interest of course. Don't be a victim.
Why not, I work at workplace to expect pay check later

I've never had a large sum of money
exexec · 70-79, C
Yes, only one time many years ago. They had the gall to ask for more.
4meAndyou · F
It wasn't a HUGE sum, but it seemed quite large to me at the time. $500.00. I loaned it to a co-worker, and I even made her sign an agreement that she would pay it back, because it was my tax money that I had saved.
Turns out she was a deadbeat, and NEVER paid me back.

Yes, but I never intended or cared if they paid it back (my ex).

The motto I follow if you wanna loose someone lend them money , how much does not matter .
They will vanish from your life as quick as possible.
Yes, so many times.

Not really. But if I ever lent someone money, I probably wouldn’t ask for it back.
Munumbis · 46-50, M
Not really. Any large sums you lend are actually grants because you know they can't pay you back even if they wanted to. I don't want the thought of that damnd money nagging the person. Fortunately most people can forget debts pretty easily. One person actually did pay me back 2 k though. Shocked me.
Majorlatency · M
Yea , a large amount. Never saw it back. It was the worst thing i could have done. It ruined my relationship. I am prepared to forget about it and move on, they unfortunately aren't.
wackidywack · 26-30

My younger brother was selected to play AFL for a team in another state. So I loaned him $10,000 to get him started. He said he'd pay me back as soon as he got his first pay check. The prick quit after the first week and has never mentioned the money...
Apparently he has an account he uses for his gambling that is only for his gambling. And doesn't draw from it for anything else, mooching off of his family when his broke but boasted he had $40,000 grand... He asked me to help him with groceries (His kids will starve) when he had spent all that money on a PS5 playstation.
