I was going to say cocaine...but everybody knows that.

Maybe taxes. Poor people have to pay them and rich people find loopholes to not pay them.

Having food delivered. Very costly. Go to the grocery store. Pick-up food. Dinner for me is sometimes a can of chili, a can of peaches, then an apple or some melon.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@badminton It works if you don’t have a car and don’t live within walking distance of grocery stores. I started getting deliveries during the pandemic, and spent much less money without the cost of getting to and from stores.

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout what why they make groceries less expensive otherwise they’d be more expensive without taxes

All the things bought for an occasion that will never come and they'll never be used or used only a few times before they expire. Clothes that people think they will fit in, perfumes kept for a special occasion that get spoiled before it comes, shoes that don't fit properly and never will but "they were so pretty!", insurance on stuff that would cost less if you simply bought the new product or had it fixed in case it got broken, subscription to stuff you don't really use..

Medical aid, you pay so much to be covered but when you need certain benefits there are terms and conditions involved as to what they will pay in full or part of even though you pay for this monthly.

Starbucks etc, extortionate prices for a soulless experience. Oh and fast food deliveries, if people can't be bothered to cook they could at least fetch their own junk food.

@RodneyTrotter1
I loathe Starbucks coffee. If you could see my face right now, you'd smack me back to my senses.

Toilet paper (although we all admit it)
Conveniences we deem necessities, like delivered anything and everything. ( excepting the disabled/elderly/those working from home/ stay at home parents, etc)

Unending product upgrades ie: iPhone.

Apps, obligatory software upgrades, streaming services, cable/internet/phone bundling.

Junk food restaurants.

Anything "designer" -- paying so much extra for simply having a name stuck on whatever it is.
