Above the knee shorts on men...something seemingly harmless, yet somehow so controversial at times. Even though it used to be the norm back in the 80s or so, it began to become stigmatized around the 90s or so, and the stigma stuck for quite a while.
The biggest part of the stigma was people though it "looked gay." Basically homophobia. Like some people might have just simply thought longer shorts looked better, but a lot of people didn't wanna wear shorter shorts because they associated them with gay people, and no one wanted to risk being thought of as gay since being gay was looked down upon.
Since I'm 22 years old, born in 2001, that means below the knee men's shorts have been the fashion throughout almost all the years I've been alive.
However, relatively recently, starting in around 2020 or so, I gradually began seeing more and more men in above the knee shorts, showing more and more thigh...and I would be lying if I said I wasn't all about it! As a bisexual person (even though I generally prefer women) I've always WANTED to see men's legs/thighs, but they always wore long and baggy below the knee shorts, so I never got to see them...luckily that changed! And seemingly overnight, too!
Like I don't quite know how to explain what I like about it so much, but I guess it's the male equivalent of seeing women in mini skirts or mini dresses.
Like the 3 men in the above photo...GOD THEY HAVE SUCH NICE LEGS. The glimpse of lower man thigh makes all the difference than if their shorts were to reach the knees. I REALLY hope those 3 men wear shorts that short all the time, and that they never go back to wearing below the knee shorts because it would just be a shame to hide that beautiful man thigh. I really hope they wear shorts more frequently than pants too.
So yeah, um...I'm obviously VERY biased, but I'm curious what other people think.
TL;DR- Personally I absolutely LOVE above the knee shorts on men...I don't know, I just really like thighs. But I'm curious what other people think.
