Apparently I have to say this but not every headscarf is a hijab.

I wear headscarves in the winter to keep my ears and neck warm. I'm not a Muslim. I'm so sick of terrorist jokes or questions about Shariah Law because I don't wanna be cold.

You learn not to have that much expectation from the majority because they start malfunctioning when required to think too much. I mean, to this day there's still people out there that don't know how to differentiate a Sikh to a Muslim because they both just so happen to wear headwear.

@SW-User Exactly. Hate crime sky rocketed for both Muslims, Sikhs and even Hindus because people mistook them for Muslims. Yet people have the nerve to say "I'm not racist because Islam isn't a race" why is it that people have and still are being targeted based on appearance then?

My grandmother was a devout Catholic and did not go out into public without a headscarf. She didn't cover her face, but did her hair.
