And they're going to ignore the movie, White Noise about an ecological disaster from a chemical spill due to a train derailment that came out just a few months ago. And guess where it was filmed? Yep. And some of the extras in the movie are from East Palestine, OH. Weird coincidence or telegraphing intent? I'm going with the latter.
@BizSuitStacy they have to warn us whenever they are planning something just to say if we didn’t stop it then it’s our fault. That’s why they put out these movies and themes even into cartoons like the Simpsons.
trains already have three braking systems (regen braking on locomotive, air brakes, and emergency brakes); of course, no braking system will magically stop an out of control train (over braking just causes wheel slippage, and is more likely to cause a derailment rather than prevent one)
@DancingFox Reminder: Trump is no longer President and Biden and Buttigeig have been in place since 2020. Biden had NO issues reversing many of Trumps decisions, for some reason this was not one of them.

Risch added that nothing prevents Buttigieg from using his existing rulemaking authority to expand the definition of a “high-hazard flammable train” to cover trains like the one in Ohio.
Under the existing limited definition, the Ohio train — which was carrying five tanker cars of vinyl chloride, a Class 2 flammable gas and known carcinogen — was exempted from the classification’s more stringent safety regulations.
ECP brakes, aka electronically controlled pneumatic brakes, aka, a way to needlessly overcomplicate a tried and true braking system that's been around over 150 years & make it more expensive & prone to failure...
about like Diesel engines going from mechanical to electronic injection, going from a durable system that rarely fails to a fragile system that constantly fails... 🤔
ironic that the railroad wouldn't send reps. to the town meeting last night because they wanted them to be safe from the mob but they don't care about the safety o the townspeople
