Just thinking about my family tree gives me a headache.
Piper · 61-69, F
Not very far back, although I've tried to by speaking with those who directly related to me. My mother's sister did a search though, and what she sent me went back to the Revolutionary War.

We know who owned some of our enslaved ancestors; a great-great grandfather was able to purchase the freedom of his mother and siblings from them. Ancestry.com even found a newspaper article from those times about it.
@bijouxbroussard You are such an interesting person.
bijouxbroussard · F
@Pitchblue I just never imagined I’d ever be able to find out some of the things we discovered about our family.
SinlessOnslaught · M
1959 when my dad was born. 😅
What did you find out about your family? That you're comfortable sharing in public, of course.

@Jimbo7 Nice!

My mom traced back to the 1800's. An Irishman came to America and married a Native American woman.
Monalisasmith86 · 41-45, F
@ScreamingFox was she Pocahontas or something
@ScreamingFox My mother's side claims her mother's side goes all the way back to the Roman occupation of Britain in the 1st century BC 🙄
SwampFlower · 31-35, F
My maternal grandparents were born in Europe so I only know up to my great great grandparents, my paternal side early 1600s.
exexec · 70-79, C
I have some lines back to the 1600's, but most to the 1700's. I can't get my direct male line past 1750. Actually, I can go a lot farther back when I link to the English royal line, but I can't document that.
craig7 · 70-79, M
On the paternal side,my grandfather and later my father,traced it back at least to the year 1801,when an ancestor arrived in Australia.
GuyWithOpinions · 31-35, M
1965. My mother was adopted. Never found her biological parents.

I only know up to my great grandparents
bijouxbroussard · F
@HijabaDabbaDoo I knew personally a great-grandfather.
HijabaDabbaDoo · F
@bijouxbroussard my siblings remember my great grandfather. I don't. He passed when I was a baby but I've seen a video of him with my siblings
bijouxbroussard · F
@HijabaDabbaDoo I’m the eldest, so I’m the only one of the kids who remembers our great-grandfather. I was five when he passed away.
Pfuzylogic · M
1803, my half-sister tried to go back to Germany and find more but the family history was destroyed by the Nazis

@Pfuzylogic so are you mr bean or Jim Carey
Pfuzylogic · M
@Monalisasmith86
Tough choice there…
it depends on the situation of course.
If my nose is acting up (and it does) I’m more like Mr.. Bean.
For general party tricks I will go with Jim Carry.
He is gifted in humor!
