Cold feet!

12 yo wouldn't pack her school bag on Sunday night and she was still day dreaming in the morning so we were in a rush to make it to school in time. Sat down to my desk at 9.30am and got a call almost immediately:

M: I can't find my PE shoes.
E: Where did you leave them?
M: Dunno, your house or mine. Can you get them for me?
E: Not now, I need to prepare for a meeting. What are you doing in PE?
M: Badminton.
E: Well you should be alright in bare feet.
M: But I'll get cold. 🙄
E: Not if you run around enough. 😁
M: *realises call is going nowhere* . . FINE! . . *ends call abruptly*

I phoned her at lunch to catch up.

M: Miss G told me off for being disorganised and forgetting stuff and I had VERY COLD FEET, but NOBODY CARES about my feelings 🤣🤣🤣

Next time she will remember her PE shoes. LOL😂
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@SunshineGirl You need to buy her some new ones or it's not fair!
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@Burnley123 Life is SO unfair! 😅
MommyLucy · 36-40, F
@SunshineGirl I LOVE how you worded "SO" in that sentence! 🤭🤭🤭 "SO" unfair! 😝😝😝 If one thing in life is fair it is that every single child is special! 💖💖💖 All other fair things comes with a tablespoon of luck! 🤣🤣🤣
HappyCamper74 · 46-50, M
Bless her heart. Should be a learning lesson for her to have her stuff prepared ahead of time.
Thank you for standing strong and not rushing her gym shoes over to her.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@HappyCamper74 Yesterday I went to the first place she assured me she assured me she had looked in and of course they were there 🤦‍♀️ Went to the school and sat in reception so she could have them before her next PE lesson. Quite pleased with myself, only it turns out that it's gymnastics on Thursday and "of course we don't wear shoes for gymnastics" 😩
HappyCamper74 · 46-50, M
@SunshineGirl ur probably going to have to help her prepare and get her things together on Sunday evenings to keep that from happening again. Ur such a good mom to M. I hope u will get full custody of her soon. I believe u both need each other.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
She'll moan but learn a lesson from it. 🤣
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@SunshineGirl
a 30 mile radius
A great euphemism for a teenager's bedroom! 🤣
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@Burnley123 That's true, but in this case she does actually have two bedrooms in which she can lose her possessions!
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@SunshineGirl It's what (or so I have heard) some people with a financial services background would call 'excessive systemic risk.'
GentleLucille · 26-30, F
Poor cold footsies! 🤣 That'll teach her for the next time 🙂
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@GentleLucille Probably not! 😂
Lion1776 · 51-55, M
Discipline!
Convivial · 26-30, F
Ah the young and how the world revolves around their needs and wants lol... Hopefully lesson learnt
onewithshoes · 22-25, F
We never even had any shoes for PE. Bare feet were the rule. 👣😟
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@onewithshoes Lots of cold footsies 😕💖
Adec757 · 51-55, M
@onewithshoes indoor p e was always done in bare feet
GentleLucille · 26-30, F
The only remedy for cold feet in PE is to run about! 🤣
GkB01 · 51-55, M
Did your daughter enjoy doing badminton in bare feet then?
GkB01 · 51-55, M
@SunshineGirl Not all that comfortable with it then
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@GkB01 Serves her right for being disorganised . . actions have consequences!
GkB01 · 51-55, M
@SunshineGirl Worried about trodden on toes I reckon
Mariagirl · 16-17, F
Was that the first time she had to do PE in barefeet?
I have to but used to it now. I guess you are in UK as barefoot PE is pretty common.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@Mariagirl They do gymnastics and dance without shoes, so not the first time.

Are all your PE lessons like that?

Yes, we are 🇬🇧🙂
Mariagirl · 16-17, F
@SunshineGirl No I have to go barefoot for PE and drama as lost my PE shoes when moving house a few months ago. In last term of school so not worth getting new ones.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@Mariagirl Oh dear, I hope you don't mind that too much 😕 My daughter loves PE and would much rather go barefoot than miss it altogether 🙂
MommyLucy · 36-40, F
Awwwwwwwwwww! 🤭🤭🤭 We care about her feelings for sure! 🤗🤗🤗 But cold feet equals a warm heart! 💖💖💖
MommyLucy · 36-40, F
@SunshineGirl Cold feet does equal a warm heart! 💖💖💖 Bare feet get cold and your heart gets warm and fuzzy! 🤗🤗🤗
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@MommyLucy They certainly do 🤗 Although I did not appreciate it so much on Sunday when she came to snuggle up under the duvet and put her cold feet on me! 😂
MommyLucy · 36-40, F
@SunshineGirl Never forget the worst nightmare for the cold weather is a warm affectionate hug! 🥶🤗🥰 And the worst nightmare for the warm weather is a cold affectionate hug! 🥵🤗🥰 And the second best medicine for cold feet is a snuggly blanket! 🤗🤗🤗 As for socks I rather have cold feet cause socks are very uncomfortable and I hate wearing them! 😭😭😭 The worst nightmare for socks is me with a magic wand! 🤣🤣🤣 [c=7700B2] "Abra Cadabra & make my socks disappear & make my feet bare forever & make my toes point to the stars & make my handstands entertain planet mars! [/c] 😁😁😁 or [c=008099] Abra Cadabra & make my socks catch a cold & make my feet catch a toad & make my socks sneeze all day & make my feet a friend to toads today! [/c] 🤭🤭🤭
Next time, prepare on Sunday night, like you were told to... beats having cold feet on Monday morning...
Mountainlady16 · 22-25, F
the students at the school i teach at leave their recess/gym shoes in their lockers or cubbies depending on their age and if you came that unprepared at that age to school u wouldnt forget that lesson quickly
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@Mountainlady16 Lockers are a good idea.
Mountainlady16 · 22-25, F
@SunshineGirl I'm gratefuly students don't have to worry about that we take our students shoes off when they get there and put them back on at outside time and than whoever picks up the kid puts them on before they go home. Our classroom is mostly climbing toys and soft play areas except for our table area so there's really no need for them to wear shoes in the classroom
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@Mountainlady16 That's really nice for the younger children 🙂
smiler2012 · 56-60
{@sunshinegirl] sorry not being harsh she is twelve and needs to take a bit of time out and responsibility for herself . not relying on you all the time to be there too wipe her backside for her
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@smiler2012 We are still getting to know each other and having two bedrooms takes a bit of getting used to 🙂
GkB01 · 51-55, M
When your daughter hadn't got her plimsolls, did she say to the teacher, "I've forgotten my plimsolls"?
GkB01 · 51-55, M
@SunshineGirl She got no sympathy lol
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@GkB01 Not from me 🙂
GkB01 · 51-55, M
@SunshineGirl You did PE in bare feet?
ineedadrink · 51-55, M
I'm just surprised they let her into class barefoot, thought there'd be rules against that.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@ineedadrink It's quite safe in the gym for non-contact sports.
Poor child left to endure PE with cold feet
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@ExperienceDLT She loves PE, she would have been more disappointed to have sat it out 🙂
@SunshineGirl why would she forget her shoes though i mean shoes are kind of essential in PE shouldnt she have kniwn to wear shoes lol
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@ExperienceDLT Well she was such a busy young lady at the weekend that she forgot to check everything in advance on Sunday evening 🙂
GkB01 · 51-55, M
I loved doing badminton in bare feet at school
GkB01 · 51-55, M
Less keen on bare feet in PE than you were?
