How do you get on with your cousins?

I had ten, most lived locally in my youth.
They varied in age from twelve years older than me to ten years younger.

Some I was close to. Others troublesome.

I practically don't know any of two on my father's side. And got estranged with most on my mother's side. I meet some of them maybe once, twice in a year, talk a bit and that's it.

@CrazyMusicLover Not a bad thing . Knowing them to much is not a good thing either 😒. Lol

I disconnected with family. Too much trauma there.

I don't know my dad's family, so there's nothing there...

Of my mom's family, only 2 of my cousins were close enough in age to me for us to be friends -- and we were good friends and playmates throughout childhood. Sadly, we became estranged by high school. I wasn't cool enough for them.
I get along with most of my cousins. A couple of them have turned out to be problems.

I had 20 cousins on my mother's side, and 5 on my father's side of the family. I didn't get along with ONE cousin and her two siblings. The rest of my cousins were absolutely fine, and I hung out with many of them during the summer. Unfortunately, almost all of my cousins are scattered throughout the western states now...2000 miles away or more.

In childhood, and young adulthood, we were very close, more like brothers and sisters, but lost touch as the years went by. Haven’t seen them for over 40-years, except one who I saw in 2009.

I have so many cousins once removed, I wouldn’t know any of them. Same with nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews. Lots of them, but never met one of them, and I don’t know them. It’s a pity that families grow apart, and become estranged. @SW-User

@Carissimi I think that pre INTERNET days we began to move way from our family area, through education and work, and so lost touch.

One of the branches of my family I can trace back in the same village to 1840.

That’s interesting. @SW-User

On my mom’s side we saw them every week because my aunt lived in same town as her mom ( my grandmother)
On my dad’s side don’t know many. It’s bad when you work with someone for almost a year before you realize he’s your cousin. 😂 that happened.

I was very close to my cousins on my mom's side when we were kids. As we grew up, we grew apart.

I was never close to the cousins on my dad's side.

I have 8 on maternal side of the family. No idea about paternal sude. Don't really talk to any of them.
I have heard of those that get on with their cousins.............mostly in the southern states. No thanks.

I have lots of cousins but I only get along with three from my dad's side. The others I rarely see if ever talk to.

I was when we were children but we all grew up and went in very different directions.
Not at all. Rural people don't like me and the feeling is definitely mutual.
