Not the best mum

I am a mother of two sons. I do my best and make mistakes. Sometimes I am too soft, at other times too strict. I play bad football, ignore the silly mistakes, don't know their music, get defeated at their computer games, wish I had more money, deny them what they often want if we can't afford it, wish I could find a decent dad for them and cry a lot.

Do your best (what your best is will go up and down everyday) Your boys will know if your trying. My son is 30 now and I am amazed at the good things he remembers. To hear him tell it I was a lot better dad that I thought I was. Just do your best whatever that may be.
You're doing the best you can. And I'm sure it's helping your boys more than you realize.

All parents feel pretty much the same way I think. I know it was the same for me. We all make mistakes, it isn't like you get a set of directions with the baby, you have to figure it out as you go. In the end, it seems like giving too much seems to make them have less respect for what they have. Most of the time, not being able to afford something is eventually understood. My advice would be to pay attention to them, keep getting beat at their games, and show them that you love them. They will turn out okay.

@Roadsterrider they are pretty good at being boys. thank you.

In my eyes the best mum is the one who will always try to do better and not the one where everything comes easy to them.

You sound like an awesome mom to me 🙂
OnlyRhonda · 36-40, F
@Bratt I am nothing like fabulous, unfortunately. I do keep trying. Thank you.
@OnlyRhonda Maybe right after you have to tell them "No. We can't afford it." -- they will say that you are mean. But, we all here seem to think those times would be rare.

Just let them know you love them that's the most important thing. You can get into their music. Talk to them and learn their stuff. You sound like you're there and you try and you love them and that's a good thing.
OnlyRhonda · 36-40, F
@SW-User I find their music appalling! I listen to it without any pleasure. I know their school stuff and talk football with them. They know I am here, I suppose.

@OnlyRhonda You make the effort to talk to them and interact. My parents never did either. Also boys like to bug you. I have a son too. :)
OnlyRhonda · 36-40, F
@SW-User Boys certainly do like to bug you! No arguments there - huge wind-ups all the time.

Bless you for doing your best!
WillaKissing · 56-60
@OnlyRhonda Yes it is because you put in the effort.
OnlyRhonda · 36-40, F
@WillaKissing Thank you for your kindness.
WillaKissing · 56-60
@OnlyRhonda You are welcome, and I raised a son and daughter by myself. And all we can do is our best with what we have and know.
Come back. Your perspective is very valuable here and SW says that you are "away".
DareeQn · 26-30, F
Soundslike you are doing a pretty good job
OnlyRhonda · 36-40, F
@DareeQn it does not feel like it, most of the time.
If that's what bothers you , I'd say you're an excellent mum 👍
