Are you close to your father (if he’s still with us)?

My father saw the information I sent to him in a text (which I mentioned here) about being pregnant and shooting at a competency test, and he has shown his officials the test I recently had at the police range, and they have suggested to wait until I have birthed to schedule a further test.

I have nothing but support from my family and, especially my dad. Growing up, swinging more to tomboy than girlie girl I had always been daddie's little girl. Unashamedly so.

He got to live his soccer/football dreams through having a family member supporting his local team too, and when all those uncomfortable thoughts/beliefs/experiences led me to being outside normality, ie being a lesbian in principle, he - along with mum - gave me that unconditional love and support to explore my sexuality and belief systems.

So, yes, close. Very close. Don't see my parents as often as I would like to - living at different ends of the country - but we talk at least every other day.

Never a chore, always a privilege.

I feel quite sorry here, reading other people's comments, that they seem to have never had that.

I lost my dad to dementia almost 18 months ago but we were very close. He taught me to fish, got me into football and took me to matches when I was a kid, taught me to ride a bike, bought me my first legal pint..., the usual things that dad's do for their sons.
He left when i was 11 and went to live somewhere else but we remained close, I visited regularly during school holidays and we always had a great time, he visited us here too and it was always a time of excitement when he was due to arrive.
We never got what my dad intended to leave us in his will, the will that we were given was a fraudulent copy but we couldn't afford to contest it, they wanted money that we simply did not have so the law is clearly on the fraudster's side.
I have something more valuable than his money, I have my memories of him and they'll never be spent.

Never had a dad. Never knew who he was. I had a mum that couldn't cope with real life and I was sent away to live with my big sister when I was 10.

She was more like a mum and dad to me.

So I can't really answer that question.

The absolute complete opposite. I've only seen him a few times iny my life and only for a few minutes and one of those was him swearing and fighting with the guards as he was led from the dock.

I met mine twice after my 1st bday. (1987)

First meeting was forced by mom (2001), 2nd meeting was a week before he died of cancer (2018) and I can't tell mom about it.

I have not seen my father since travel became difficult during the pandemic. [We are in different countries.]
We exchange cards at Christmas time.

My father and I were quite close, but he has been gone for years.

I don't know if he is alive or dead. He was a very abusive person to women and children. He was not a good man
I don't have a father...

I thought i was close. I had married a latina and he started to act racist and crazy. We stopped talking and when he died i was out of the will. My brother got everything.
