What are the chances you were conceived on a water bed?

"Waterbeds reached their peak popularity in 1987, when they accounted for roughly 20% to 22% of all mattress sales in the United States".

much better chance i was conceived in one of these
@beermeplease OMG, is that a Pacer ? 😃
@beermeplease I thought it was, but didn’t want to look stoopid.
I was born in ‘51, before waterbeds were a twinkle in anyone’s eye.
@bijouxbroussard I grew up and lived in rural places where trends were almost over before they got to us, so I have trouble dating trends. I don’t remember seeing a waterbed before the late 70s.
@Mamapolo2016 A high school friend received one as a gift from her mother in 1974. I would occasionally spend the night with this friend, so I got to try it out. She was thrilled with it, so I said nothing, but frankly I preferred the firmness and support of my own Posturepedic at home. 😊
@bijouxbroussard I usually heard about them when they a) sprang a leak and created a glorious mess or b) weighed more full than some houses were built to hold and crashed through the floor to the level below. And created a glorious mess.

Water bed? I was conceived so long ago, I'm not sure that box springs had been invented yet!
Ducky · 31-35, F
My parents did have a water bed and I was born in 1991, so it's possible.
FreddieUK · 70-79, M
@Ducky That might explain your SW name. 🤭
Thodsis · 51-55, M
Absolutely bugger all.

I suspect that my parents fucked each other on a floor-based mattress in a London squat with fireworks going off outside...
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
Being born in 1950, not very high.

Unfortunately I know more about that than I ever wanted to

Zero. Good chance it wasn't even a real mattress by current standards.
@dancingtongue

Hear you... I'm not sure they came with tags when I was born. :(
craig7 · 70-79, M
None! They didn't exist in 1947.
@craig7

Someone on SW is older than me?? I don't believe they were, sir.
craig7 · 70-79, M
@rinkydinkydoink I was born in 1948,but 9 months earlier takes us back to the middle of '47.
@craig7

I was conceived in - and was also born in - 1948, sir. 😁
Little to none. The first water bed I ever encountered was my good friend’s at the time, given to her by her mother. We were teenagers, long before 1987. I didn’t enjoy sleeping on it, no support.
@bijouxbroussard

You know we're all picturing you on a water bed, right?

🤭
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
Having turned 20 that year, zero.
Sapio · 51-55, M
I was born in 73. I was also adopted. So.where I was conceived is still a mystery.
Poppies · 61-69, F
@Poppies

I'm a boomer myself!
FreddieUK · 70-79, M
Somewhere between none and zilch.
@FreddieUK

I was born when The State of Israel was half a year old.
