Ask Mark Thackeray for advice.
GoFish ·
I hope my daughter would be smarter than that 😒
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
Get her mental help right now.
MyNameIsHurl · 46-50, F
Was it on purpose? If so definitely get her counseling because that could have ended in tragedy

I have a 20 yo daughter cant imagine her setting the basement on fire unless it was an accident, would be interested in what she was doing that caused the fire?
Make her buy new carpet ?🤷‍♀
Lostpoet · M
Make her pay for the damage she's twenty.
AdmiralPrune · 46-50, M
She’s 20? Time to move her out.
peterlee · M
If an accident, nothing.

Otherwise she needs serious help.

At 20? If it was an intentional act or done under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Evict them... that is criminal negligence. If it was an accident, make them pay to fix the damage and put them on notice that any type of carless behavior can no longer be tolerated.

Or buy more fire extinguishers and put some nanny cams up around the house
peterlee · M
@TexChik It certainly needs talking through seriously. She may be developing a serious illness that manifests in the twenties.
TexChik · F
@peterlee Or she is still living at home, at 20 , in mom's basement, being irresponsible. I would raise hell on my 16 yr old for doing something like that...accident or not.
Jenny1234 · 56-60, F
Accidentally, no problem

Intentionally ? I’d be making urgent appt for mental health care
She’s a danger to you and your family.
Lopaka55 · 70-79, M
Have her unvestigated for arson?
nobodyishome · 31-35, F
You shouldve slapped her when she was younger and learning. 20 year olds are gone case, if you tell her shes bad, shes going to go to ruin now
Midlifemale · 61-69, M
Talk to her. Ask her why. If she won't open up to you, then she needs a therapist.
Has she had behavoiral problems before ?
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
Context? Was it intentional or an accident? How did it happen? Was she present when the fire was put out or did she leave something that caused fire unattended?

I burnt a spot in our carpet when I was about 20 too. It was an accident.
Katie01 · F
Nothing. She's just a girlie
4meAndyou · F
We need more information. Why does she SAY it happened?
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
Guys, they have another story about their daughter pepper spraying ppl in unprovoked attacks but with their name ToSir... is giving family discipline account vibes even if their stories are varied.

Def looking for the spanko crowds here.
Sidewinder · 36-40, M
There are a lot of factors to consider.

What caused it, whether-or-not the fire was intentional, the size of the fire, etc.
Confined · 56-60, M
Was it intentional or an accident?
72andy · 51-55, M
Not enough information.
How, why, remorse?

Certainly needs to contribute to a carpet replacement fund.

Depends how did it happen
Birdbox1986 · 36-40, F
That’s arson get her punished so she’ll learn
Convivial · 26-30, F
I'm presuming it was accidental... Learn from it
By accident, I hope ? That would the difference between a caution to be more careful vs. getting professional help. 🥺
