I would think not. Canada is a different case. The scenario there is to wait out for Alberta (the most economically powerful province) to formally and legitimately seek independence from Canada through the Clarity Act, become its own nation for at least one year, then as our relationship with them steadily increases, make them an offer.
Culturally and regarding hard work Albertans have much more in common with Montanans than with Canadians. They're already in talks with Trump's team on closer economic relations - translation: Oil. If Alberta secedes, Canada will likely have a serious economic emergency as their gov't relies on Alberta's equalization payments to annually sunsidize the other provinces (esp. Quebec), so when those payments stop, there goes the Canadian union. Remember, Quebec tried to secede in the 90s, and almost did by a couple of votes. So yes, one day it may actually happen.
When it comes down to it Trump is a patient, yet brilliant, tactician. He says then gets what he wants, and he wants the American people to prosper.
