Life is what you make of it

I raised my son without his dad in the picture by choice, his dad and I agreed , he wanted me to get an abortion and I refused, so he split and I did it alone, while sometimes I felt guilty about it, he always had a male figure in his life until my dad died and he turned out fine, he knows who his dad is now but said he has no interest in a relationship with him .
I rarely think of his dad, but now that my son is engaged I just thought he might want him there, he doesn't.

His birthday is coming up and i have the feels

Maybe one day still he'll decide to talk with him or even maybe visit or maybe not. Either way he had a great family in you, and your dad, and I hope he finds joy in his new chapter!! I missed the pic drats ... Lol.

sounds like you did right by him!

no judgement on the dad from me.

Having a father in the house doesn't guarrentee a good male role model. You saved your son a childhood of fighting and a hostile environment.
You made a tough choice, but seems it was the right one.

Don’t feel guilty. You did an amazing job.

@Jenny1234 I don’t anymore, when he was younger I did. 😊 thanks

@FreeSpirit1 I went through something similar with my first child.

That guilt you're feeling is self-imposed, I know that much for sure right now. It is not coming from anywhere else except from you alone.

The decision you made to 'not' have an abortion was the correct decision because that decision was made by YOU, not by someone else on your behalf. I say this as being someone who has always been a very strong 'pro-choice' advocate, not someone who is a table thumping, god-fearing anti-abortionist.

@swirlie I don't feel guilty anymore, just when he was younger.
