How did you learn how to handle failure as a child ??

exexec · 61-69, C Best Comment
I played baseball. I learned that sometimes I might strike out or make an error, but there was always a next at bat or fielding chance. There was no need to focus on the failures, but just resolve to do better the next time.

Not well. Perfectionism has haunted me pretty much all my life.

My dad kept calling us failures, we learnt how to deal with it. Not proving him anything. Did our own thing. And completely disfunked him up, my brother became a successful chauffeur business man, my other brother became a hotel manager, and I became an Irish speaking preschool teacher! Haven't spoken to that man in 8 years. Liberation from a narcissistic parent is paramount!

Just tried and tried until I succeeded. It never really affected me negatively

There was no such thing, just varied levels of success…

I just compared myself to people who were bigger failures than me. Then I started hanging around them and got lazier and lazier.
Spiralled to rockbottom….the lowest point in my life
...failure? As a child?

I don't recall that in the timeframe which you indicate.

Laugh at it like I do now if it happens, we are only human

I don't recall being informed that I had failed at anything as a child. I had dropped the ball a few times, but I was never told that I had failed to achieve an objective.
