They can take a beating? 🤔

TinyViolins · 31-35, M
There's different kinds of abuse. No one is going to have the exact same response to all the different kinds, so you can't really say for certain. On top of that, people sometimes go to therapy or take meds or find support to help them deal with their issues. You probably won't be able to see their childhood pain beyond all the healing or growth they've done

Always worrying about things, full of anxiety, insecure, feeling like a loser, that's what abuse does. It destroys your self worth.
WaryWitchWandering · 36-40, F
Apologizing for things beyond their control
Making themself small/invisible
Seeming detached/fear of people getting too close
Very private
Keep things bottled up
Neuroticism
See that's the thing, if you look at them from the outside you'd never know. Because it was part of the problem to always make it look like everything is fine.

Socially awkward and dysfunctional, stubborn, the cold outer control with seething rage bubbling just below the surface... until it doesn't want to stay there anymore!!!!

You know their immediate family
There is no one singular sign.

Everyone deals/doesn't deal with that shit in their own way.

Ita why people train to look for cues to abuse. It can be a spectrum thing.

When someone repeatedly takes off their headphones to make sure everything is ok.
shinyplasticlove · 51-55, M
Today's generation would think us GenXers were abused by getting our butts whooped.

@shinyplasticlove
I understood right from wrong and I still got into trouble. I grew up just fine.
I very much doubt that. I think you just haven't really examined yourself, and assume you do just fine because your trauma happens to help you fit in with the society you enjoy. But the fact of the matter is, you are traumatized.
shinyplasticlove · 51-55, M
@LordShadowfire I seriously doubt I am traumatized. If anything would have traumatized me it would have been getting bullied in Elementary, middle, and high school.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@shinyplasticlove I didn't think I was, either. I used to be like you, in fact. I would tell people that my parents spanked me and I was just fine. It wasn't until someone pointed it out to me that everyone who says that has some kind of anger management problem that I put two and two together.
