You hear a bump downstairs in the middle of the night..

Do you get up and go straight down to investigate or do you lay there in bed scared to move in the hope that whatever it was goes away?
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
I'm that stereotypical dumb blonde in horror movies going to explore unprepared. 🤦‍♀️😂 Only that I'm not blonde.
Ironicman · 56-60, M
@CrazyMusicLover I know the one you mean, the blonde who creeps down the stairs and happens to find that loose floor board which lets off the loudest creak
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@Ironicman Exactly 😆 ...but to be fair, I would immediately start turning on all lights and making as much noise as possible.
Ironicman · 56-60, M
@CrazyMusicLover good tactics, I like your thinking.
DunningKruger · 61-69, M
I'll grab a flashlight and head downstairs. Halfway down, I'll remember that we live in a single-story house....

@DunningKruger bungalow Bill

I only have lived in one-floor homes or apartments since we left the farm. One time right after I turned off the light to go to sleep I heard glass breaking in the apartment. I was scared and didn’t get up listening to hear footsteps or any other noise…nothing. My daughter says “Mom, aren’t you going to get up and see what happened?” So I got up and looked at all the windows in the apartment and none were broken. Walked back to the bedroom and looked in the bathroom and a small picture had fallen off the bathroom wall and the glass in it had shattered. Also what’s scary enough to spook a cat is if something in a closet shifts or falls over…the cat will fuzz up like it’s ready to fight

@cherokeepatti slush your ice, problem won't repeat.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Ironicman I don’t use the ice maker any more since I am filtering my water in a Berkey filter. The refrigerator filter doesn’t remove chlorine or fluoride but the Berkey filter does.

A classic scenario, especially in a self defense class . In that moment , if I am by myself , I have my Glock and my very bright tactical flashlight . I slip on some shoes and investigate. If I see anyone ( that appears to be a threat) I don’t recognize I am going to shoot , no questions asked , just like I was trained.
Ironicman · 56-60, M
@TexChik true proffesional
Sit up and listen, trying to decide if it sounds knife worthy, gun worthy, or baseball bat worthy. We have critters, so it could be nothing. I also live on a dirt road...⛏️⚰️
Ironicman · 56-60, M
@UnderLockDown you're well prepared
Entwistle · 56-60, M
Arm.myself,see how my dog reacts and then head downstairs..
Ironicman · 56-60, M
@Entwistle arm yourself? What do reach for?
Entwistle · 56-60, M
@Ironicman The pickaxe handle i keep under my bed.

"Ahh the crackhead neighbor must've hit something with his car at 3am"
Forgetmeknot · 41-45
I lay there bored thinking it's probably nothing and then I say to myself but I better check so I do.

When I was younger I was extra anxious. I used to search every night before I slept to make sure nobody was hiding anywhere. One time a friend was with me and she said "what are you gonna do if you actually find someone one night" She made me laugh, probably the way she said it, and I said "I dunno... Probably say I've been looking for you for years"

Anyway I stopped looking, rather avoid meeting whoever I was expecting and I somehow stopped being scared.
Eddiesolds · 61-69, M
I have to go check. Im scared already. I wouldnt be able to fall asleep. Lol
Ironicman · 56-60, M
@Eddiesolds brave man
Eddiesolds · 61-69, M
@Ironicman Brave. Lmfao! Im scared shitless. Lol

I was in the bathtub the last time that happened. The door to the cellar was directly opposite from my open door, and it sounded like someone was pounding on the LOWER door panels...as though they were lying down on the stairs. I WOULD have investigated, but I was...er...not dressed.

The ex was lying in bed reading, and HE did not want to get up and investigate. TBH that was usually my job.
kodiac · 22-25, M
Me and my friend would get up and check
Ironicman · 56-60, M
@kodiac crikey, now you're talking
Repete · 61-69, M
I usually rush down stairs because I want to be the first one to catch that one footed sock stealer that lives somewhere near the dryer.
WaryWitchWandering · 36-40, F
I come out with a gun. Bc my kids are sleeping in my home
Ironicman · 56-60, M
@WaryWitchWandering is it fully loaded, like under your pillow? I keep a hammer beside my bed. London's getting dodgy.
poisonouscupcake · 22-25, F
i ask someone else in my family to check it out😇
Ironicman · 56-60, M
@poisonouscupcake wise but what if you're alone?
poisonouscupcake · 22-25, F
@Ironicman hide and listen closely, if someone is in the house i’d have better luck hiding than fighting my way out i’m very weak
ravenhill · M
GO AND INVESTIGATE.
Ironicman · 56-60, M
@ravenhill like it, no hesitation. Are you a black belt in martial arts?
Justenjoyit · 56-60, M
The cats have knocked something over and back to sleep.
Ironicman · 56-60, M
@Justenjoyit but what if your pussies are on your bed sound asleep? 👀
Justenjoyit · 56-60, M
@Ironicman Then its the baseball bat and down stairs lol
Ironicman · 56-60, M
@Justenjoyit good choice
Niloo · 46-50, F
I will hide and call the police 🫥
That’s one thing about living in a flat—I’m always hearing bumping downstairs, music too. It’s the neighbors.
Ironicman · 56-60, M
@bijouxbroussard so long as they're not humping all night, keeping you awake 😂😁
Mrsbetweenfatandfit · 26-30, F
I assume it’s a ghostie possibly the dog
Ironicman · 56-60, M
@Mrsbetweenfatandfit what a ghost of your dog?
Mrsbetweenfatandfit · 26-30, F
@Ironicman it may be
