I only have lived in one-floor homes or apartments since we left the farm. One time right after I turned off the light to go to sleep I heard glass breaking in the apartment. I was scared and didn’t get up listening to hear footsteps or any other noise…nothing. My daughter says “Mom, aren’t you going to get up and see what happened?” So I got up and looked at all the windows in the apartment and none were broken. Walked back to the bedroom and looked in the bathroom and a small picture had fallen off the bathroom wall and the glass in it had shattered. Also what’s scary enough to spook a cat is if something in a closet shifts or falls over…the cat will fuzz up like it’s ready to fight
@Ironicman I don’t use the ice maker any more since I am filtering my water in a Berkey filter. The refrigerator filter doesn’t remove chlorine or fluoride but the Berkey filter does.
Sit up and listen, trying to decide if it sounds knife worthy, gun worthy, or baseball bat worthy. We have critters, so it could be nothing. I also live on a dirt road...⛏️⚰️
A classic scenario, especially in a self defense class . In that moment , if I am by myself , I have my Glock and my very bright tactical flashlight . I slip on some shoes and investigate. If I see anyone ( that appears to be a threat) I don’t recognize I am going to shoot , no questions asked , just like I was trained.
@CrazyMusicLover I know the one you mean, the blonde who creeps down the stairs and happens to find that loose floor board which lets off the loudest creak
I lay there bored thinking it's probably nothing and then I say to myself but I better check so I do.
When I was younger I was extra anxious. I used to search every night before I slept to make sure nobody was hiding anywhere. One time a friend was with me and she said "what are you gonna do if you actually find someone one night" She made me laugh, probably the way she said it, and I said "I dunno... Probably say I've been looking for you for years"
Anyway I stopped looking, rather avoid meeting whoever I was expecting and I somehow stopped being scared.
I was in the bathtub the last time that happened. The door to the cellar was directly opposite from my open door, and it sounded like someone was pounding on the LOWER door panels...as though they were lying down on the stairs. I WOULD have investigated, but I was...er...not dressed.
The ex was lying in bed reading, and HE did not want to get up and investigate. TBH that was usually my job.
