What is truly worth my time?

Time is arguably the most valuable thing there is because you only get so much of it and you can never get it back. I used to think a good life lied in the getting the things I desired, whatever they were. So I used up all my time chasing after them.

Looking back on that it’s a bit silly to think that way. The idea that I should spend my whole life looking forward to something so that I never fully appreciate where I currently am. I’d never be happy living that way, would I? I achieve and then what? I’m left with more to achieve. It won’t ever be enough because we’ll always have more that needs to be done. That’s just the way it is.

I’ve realized the only thing worthy of my time is the fulfillment of whatever challenges me. That’s what I desire now because those who pursue easy won’t ever get to the bottom of that rainbow.

Determining where you want to spend eternity. We'll spend our time far longer "there", than in this life on earth, so it is the most valuable decision we'll ever make. There's no guessing about it. God's Word says so. That's one thing we don't want to get wrong.

@LadyGrace I can come to know that, or I can come to know something else. There’s infinite possibility in what I can come to know. However, there will be none the moment I decide what I do know and the life of a closed mind is not one I want.

@Reject No, you want to keep growing and learning.

@LadyGrace I do! And that stops the moment I think I’ve figured things out.

Really, we don't even have time. The only valuable pursuits that could have some lasting effect on eternity are things not of this world. We can take nothing with us. No one gets out alive.

@Steve42 I like to think everything we do has a lasting effect simply through the butterfly effect or chain reactions. Everything’s connected. That’s just how I see it though. Like yours it’s purely a theory because no one has ever achieved time travel.

*edit* No one we’re aware of. Lol.

Funny thing about time is it’s like a currency you’re forced to spend. Maybe something isn’t worth the time, but you often have limited option where to spend time that’s going to pass regardless.

@Straylight This is true. Only those with money enjoy the luxury of options, but all the options in the world won’t mean anything if you don’t make the most of them. Conversely, even but one option can be the best of all if you’ve made the most of it.
I’ve realized the only thing worthy of my time is the fulfillment of whatever challenges me.

🤩 Well said.

One of my favorite Mac Miller lyrics; when he was singing about a chilldhood friend who died.

"So we don't money. All we got is time to spend"

@ChiefJustWalks That’s a good quote. It’s true. People with money do have more options with their time to spend though. No one needs options, but they don’t hurt. Lol.

@Reject yeah, I felt like he was mostly saying that since life is so short, the way we spend our available time is whats worth more than anything

@ChiefJustWalks Right. It’s never the why, it’s the how when it comes to time.
wait are u listening to the time management series on waking up too?

@faithfulhusband Oh! An app! 😮 It is working? Do you feel these initial lessons teaching you about productive uses of your time?
@Reject yeah it helped me actually get started with meditation since I found it so hard to do on my own.

As for the time management, the first few lessons have been mainly convincing me that more productivity shouldn't necessarily be the goal because that usually that leads to feeling more busy and less fulfilled. It's also about accepting the fact that we'll never have enough time to do all the things we want and that gives more value to the choices we do make, kind of the same point you were getting at.

@faithfulhusband Aha! Then I’m on the right track. I don’t think I’ll ever be as good as these gurus, what you’re saying sounds like some seriously smart stuff, for example as much as I enjoy productivity, admittedly I am one busy bee, so perhaps that does take away from some fulfillment I could otherwise have? 🤔 Something to think about.

If you were my hubby I would say “ Me !” 😌.

But for me I too enjoy a challenge and spend an inordinate amount of time dealing with challenging endeavors.
It's delighting in the challenge that brings satisfaction.

@Mamapolo2016 Exactly! You will be challenged, might as well make the most of it.
