Would you eat at this restaurant?

A restaurant in London asked a man to leave because his face was scaring the customers. The restaurant hasn't been named yet, but I certainly wouldn't go there.

Abysmal behaviour from the restaurant and the people that complained. 😐

As someone who has facial scars, I am completely disgusted by this. I'm more disgusted by the patrons of the restaurant than the restaurant itself. I go by the philosophy, if you you don't like what I look like, then don't look at me. Children don't even act like these adults.
Tumbleweed · F
This is disgusting. Why are people so rude and insensitive?? They oughta be ashamed of themselves.
Love for this man and he can come dine with me any time he wants 🫂
Lugwho · 56-60, M
@Tumbleweed Terribly ignorant
Tumbleweed · F
@Lugwho It makes me very sad.
He seems to have multiple neurofibromatosis. A horrible condition, one of the worst. It's what the 'Elephant Man' had.
Lugwho · 56-60, M
@Bel6EQUJ5 Yes, horrible condition

They deserve to go into crippling debt and have to sell everything before being named and shamed.
Lugwho · 56-60, M
@SW-User I think it might be a Ratners Prawn Sandwich moment, if anyone remembers that.

@SW-User Yes. Cheaper than an M&S Prawn Sandwich, and wouldn't last as long. The company crashed and eventually had to rename

Even if the people complained, the restaurant could have requested him to take a seat facing wall/corner, instead of asking him to leave. And they should also have tried to make other customers understand about problem he is facing.
ABCDEF7 · M
@Lugwho That depends on age of the kid. We can't expect same from a 2 years old kid to not get scared.
Lugwho · 56-60, M
@ABCDEF7 That's not my experience. If my children were scared in a situation, I'd take them away from it.
ABCDEF7 · M
@Lugwho Take them away?

Why would you not use that opportunity to educated them?

In a way you are supporting the move of restaurant. They just asked one person to move away from restaurant instead of many who complained.
Ontheroad · M
Yeah, I'd never eat at a place like that... I don't do rude a$$ hurtful people.
Lugwho · 56-60, M
@Ontheroad Agreed
smiler2012 · 56-60
@Lugwho 🤔only conclusion you can draw from this is the restaurant owners should be ashamed and disgusted at this victimisation . the customers who highlighted this are just as culpible for showing ignorance and discourtesy too this man too
Lugwho · 56-60, M
@smiler2012 Absolutely
Fibromatosis is a disgusting disease. some people just can't stomach that sort of thing. especially if they are eating.

I just don't understand why there wouldn't be some way of combatting the tumors at least cosmetically at this point in time. is it that expensive?

is it like those people with Hypertrichosis. I would imagine that is costly and painful to remove all that hair. But those people don't go around in diners either. unless they shave first. and i am not saying that as a joke.
@LILY61 "Some people can't stomach that sort of thing" - Well, that's THEIR problem then!
@Bel6EQUJ5 they are at a restaurant and want to eat. what if they can't under that situation
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
People might have been freaking out because they thought he had monkey pox.

I have to make my own meals most times. Very few restaurants that can accommodate someone like me.

I might make an exception, get incredibly ill there and freak everyone out by having respiratory distress. Then leave a bad review on yelp never mentioning it is related to my own illness.
Lugwho · 56-60, M
@Miram Yelp reviews are generally to be treated with caution.
Miram · 31-35, F
@Lugwho How dare you attempt to sabotage my hypothetical plan to revenge this man?
Lugwho · 56-60, M
@Miram Sorry, I misunderstood. I'm onboard for this.
Hopefully they release the name and people stop going there.
Lugwho · 56-60, M
@MarbleMarvel I'm sure it will come out
maybe customers complained and they didn't know what to do about it
Lugwho · 56-60, M
@LILY61 They could have suggested the people complaing left
@Lugwho yes, but you just don't know exactly what happened. i personally would have put him facing the person he was with and away from customers. so that everyone could just relax. but if i had the disease, i would not eat in a restaurant.

some people are too easily upset when they see someone like that. ( get nauseous too easily or they are too empathetic)
InHeaven · F
Aaaaaaaaw poor thing. No, I would boycott them. If they rejected him, they would do me or anyone the same. I would not give them money, no.
SW-User
The only clue so far seems to be that the restaurant is in Camberwell, South London.
If I had that condition I wouldn't put myself or other people in that situation
Fertilization · 36-40, F
No. I won’t bother to go for take-away either.
Lugwho · 56-60, M
@Fertilization I think most wouldn't
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
No, I wouldn't go to it.
That's horrible.
Plasticbag · 100+, M
Absolutely disgusting
Donotfolowme · 51-55, F
Omg! That's outright inhuman
Lugwho · 56-60, M
@Donotfolowme It's shocking
No, I wouldn’t. How cruel. 😞
tenente · 100+, M
