We have graduation parties but not like yours. (not ceremonies, I meant) but yes they give out the diplomas, and we have a celebration. At least Balkan people.

European schools are very different than schools here. In Europe when a kid graduates he can count past 10 and read at a college level..............not 5th grade level

@CrazyMusicLover But there is no graduation just last exams and byee👋
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@bookerdana Yeah, literally you sit in the class and your class teacher hands you out your report papers. 😆 Then you go to the yard with the entire school, there's some program, students showing their talents, if there are school bands, they play, then there's some formal blah blah blah of the director, special students being publicly awarded one by one coming forward and then bye bye.

Different countries. 🤔🤔

@JackHoff you should be asleep right now honey
WelshLovely · 46-50, F
Its because we don't get our exam results until the summer holidays when school isn't in session and we've already ceased to be students by then....
devonman · 61-69, M
@WelshLovely Oh, god, that wait for the results......
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
Usually no time. School finishes in June/July. Exam results come out in late August. The student is either employed by then or on her way to university. Either way, more important things have taken over 🙂

Maybe finishing high school is not the flex that some Americans think it is? 😅
jackjones68 · M
Plus no mass shootings
TurtlePink · 22-25, F
@jackjones68 ok true. But you gotta agree that American high schools are so much more fun than European schools. I mean all the extra activities and the chance to get involved and make new friends and life long memories.

Many never go to university.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@samueltyler2 I thought it was far more common for Europeans to go to universities than in the USA. It seems to me like soon even cleaning ladies will need a degree to be apt for their job. 😆
On the contrary, I can't believe how often I hear that Americans didn't finish even high school. That's extremely rare here and usually only applies to people from very bad socioeconomic conditions.

@CrazyMusicLover There is a vast difference between red and blue states and the economic spread is very wide. It costs so much to get a college education, many can't afford it. I had a full scholarship, so I was lucky. But, all of my college friends actually went to graduate school as well.
