Death is one of life's certainties that we can't change. I tend to not think about it too much. For me, earthquakes are very scary. You never know how hard they're going to be, and how much they'll destroy.
@bijouxbroussard 15 harrowing seconds... it felt like forever! I think your roommate reciting the rosary would've made it even more surreal. Lol. I kept saying the same thing, please stop. It always makes me feel so very small, and helpless.
I have a property in the high desert. At night you cannot see 2 inches in front of you and its dead silent. When you look up at the stars you can see some of them so clearly and planets and satellites too. It feels like I an floating in the cold of outer space. I sometimes find that creepy and run back in the house.
@AnonymouslyYours Yes, I would never have imagined just how young 50 is—until I was looking at it from my rearview mirror. We were still having fun, hanging out with friends, going dancing, falling in love. None of us were ready to be gone. One of my friends had just met the woman of his dreams and his parents had flown out to meet her. He picked them up from the airport, set them up in his home, then had gone in to take a quick nap before dinner. He never woke up.
Tornadoes. Just a big, huge, monstrous, and demonic whirlwind that doesn't give a damn about who or what's in its path. Add that to the fact that sometimes there is no escape from it.
Not necessarily creepy or scary, but more than 108 billion members of our species have ever been born. That means those of us currently alive represent about 7 percent of the total number of humans who have ever lived.
I will never be able to wrap my head around that, it’s insane to me.
