On the night of my wedding day... I was staying at my maid of honors house for the night, sleeping in a hammock in her basement...When in the middle of the night her hamster which had gotten loose landed on my stomach from falling from the ceiling!!! It freaked me out! I grabbed it and tossed it aside! I'll never forget that night!

I also had my own hamster get loose in my house, one day I was doing laundry in the basement, when my hamster made an appearance in the ceiling in between a pipe and a sheet of plywood! I grabbed a knife and started sawing the hole for the pipe a little bigger for my hamster to squeeze through, a few moments later the lil' guy squeezed through the hole and landed on a pile of laundry!!! I was so happy!

Then a couple of years ago, I strongly wanted a hamster, I would check the pet store to see if they had any...I ended up getting one from the City. Named him Squeakers! I got him the best of the best, an awesome habitat cage, with the best of the best spinning wheel, a container filled with dust to roll around in, chew's gourmet food, treats, a bed, a wooden hide, it was a nice set up...I also had a carrying container, to take him with me wherever I go. My therapist took me to the lake every week and I'd bring Squeakers along! He would go with us to the gas station too, I often took him out onto my front lawn on a blanket to get some fresh air....Then one day when Squeakers was 2 years old he must have fallen off the second floor of his cage, and broke his leg,,,,he couldn't climb up the ramp to get to his food and water so then I put them on the bottom floor, then he started getting really fat real quick, and couldn't get in or out of his food dish...Then passed away in his wooden hut...

I ended up disinfecting his cage and everything in it, and brought everything that he had, to the second hand store...They told me that it sold quickly. Which was cool....Some one else could enjoy their hamster just as much as I did Squeakers.

One of mine escaped. Found it in the back yard a couple days later, still alive but barely. The other one in the cage nursed her back to health.

At the risk of sounding macabre , i always believed hamsters and gold fish were pets to teach our children about life and death, love and loss . Preparing them. Get it over with quickly 😳 Start them off small and then gradually move up to cats and dogs?

Ours escaped and went into the walls....I shined a flashlight through a pipe hole opening in the cellar ceiling - which he came to it and dropped down into a paper cup I held up 😂
