Always have to look for new friends on my walks

My dog and I ran into this young western cottonmouth on the trail a few minutes ago. I used a stick to chase it into the woods before two more dogs got there. My dog ignores snakes. Others might not be so lucky.

My grand father was afraid of them trained a dog to keep them away from his camp when sleeping ,, he was a prospector

@oldercanuck1 I understand. My grandfather was bitten by a cottonmouth as a kid, and they kept his swollen leg in a bucket of turpentine for a week as a remedy. He never liked snakes after that.

@exexec i am not a fan but do not mind them in the wild where they belong ,, i am a dog person ,,

@oldercanuck1 I don't bother the nonvenomous ones. I do move the venomous ones out of my yard or off the beaten path so they won't bother anybody.
