Not all Christians are Creationists in the narrow sense of a 6 day literal account in Genesis 1. All Christians believe that God created the 'heavens and the earth'. After that you will find a range of opinion on how it happened. The problem for many with no faith is that the loud voices of certain American (and some other) Christian groups dogmatically pronouncing their certainty, make it seem that there is no room for dialogue (or science).

My faith in Christ tells me why I exist; evolution helps explain how life unfolds.
My truth isn’t threatened when God’s design is deep enough to include growth.

@Punxi Evolution isn't growth... it's change.
It's change in the frequency and distribution of alleles driven by a constantly changing environment.
There's no 'ideal' against which those changes can be assessed, so the idea of growth is invalid.

Many Christians do believe in evolution. Most in fact. Most of the major Christian denominations include Roman Catholism accept evolution. It's mostly in the US where people are a little behind.

@JimboSaturn
where people are little behinds.
Fixed it for you. 😆
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@JimboSaturn Catholicism pretends to accept Evolution, but tries to exclude humans from the evolutionary process, so... no
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
Yes they just don't understand it. They were not taught it properly or it at all I imagine.
@JimboSaturn
And you see it all the time when a creationist comes up confidently saying evolution didn't or couldn't happen and the proceed to demonstrate virtually no idea of what it is or how it works.

Surely the topic of evolution should be under ‘Science’, not Spirituality’?

@22Michelle Spirituality has a wide berth these days.

@peterlee Has, or gets?

I don’t understand Quantum Electrodynamics or the General Theory of Relativity either.
How is evolution explained in this paradigm, or does it need Newtonian Physics.

All it took to convince me of that was listening to them try to describe it.
@LordShadowfire
I mean, i still sometimes get the "If we come from monkeys then why are there still monkeys?" question lol

@Pikachu I know, right? They think that's so clever.
@LordShadowfire
Well they just don't know any better. I don't say that to be condescending, it just is often the case.
I recently had an interaction with someone on here who was sure they were way ahead of me, knew everything i could possibly say....it became rapidly apparent that this was not the case because their response boiled down to "Well God could have deceitfully made the world to look that way."

Fyi, not all Christians deny evolution....
OriginalDumbMan · 36-40
You even do not understand evolution.
ItsMeMorgue · 46-50, F
@OriginalDumbMan
God will only show you
How convenient. So I guess if God refuses to show me, I'm one of his garbage creations that he wants to throw away.
OriginalDumbMan · 36-40
@ItsMeMorgue no. All things I don’t know. No book has been completely able to define god. In christianity you have to accept jesus I guess that will work, that is from my experience as I have observed this in other people.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@OriginalDumbMan So I'm good, then? Since I accepted him in 2003? Is that how it works? Once saved, always saved?
