Is Halloween dead?

We got no trick or treaters last night, and even left the light on. Last year, there was only one group, and we had no candy. But this year, I made sure we had some…and was disappointed that no one showed.

A lot of people are reporting the same

It's different now. Adults have co-opted Halloween and in a lot of places they've moved the kids celebration to controlled environments. They're not out going door to door as much. Maybe it's fearful parents or just the ease of 'one stop shopping.'

It's not something I celebrate outwardly like I used to, but in my secret heart I still feel giddy about Halloween. I wish it was a whole month and not just a day.

It was so cold in KC. We went to a few trunk or treats and went around the neighborhood. Kids got way too much candy

No kids were here either this year, last year couple of them came
There were like 4 lights on on my street and I didn't see one kid.
Bummer. We only got two kids.

I think it’s mostly trunk-or-treat nowadays. It’s safer. Plus, that seemed to be preferred more after 2020.

@Colonelmustardseed what is trunk or treat?
@PoisonLace It’s when businesses, churches, or neighborhoods host trick-or-treating in a gathered area and everyone passes out candy from their cars. It’s safer that kids don’t go to strangers’ houses.
Around here it seems like people got out of the habit after the pandemic.
