I can’t speak for anything this government is doing, but I do know that the government has interfered with some law-abiding citizens when they attempted to exercise their 2nd Amendment rights—even as they’ve tried to abridge their 1st Amendment rights.
(I’m old enough to remember the following. It happened in my state and my family knew some of the Panthers:)
In the late 1960s, the Black Panther Party's armed public protests in California prompted the state to pass the Mulford Act, which restricted open carry of loaded firearms, with the NRA and then-governor Ronald Reagan supporting the law. The Second Amendment's "right to keep and bear arms" was central to the debate, as the Panthers argued it justified their armed patrols while lawmakers framed the law as opposing armed vigilantism. @bijouxbroussard isn't it funny how nobody on 'the right' ever mentions anything about old Ronny's damage to the Second Amendment through the Mulford Act and later with the Brady Bill, and all the legislation that came through Clinton. It all came FROM Reagan directly. Leaning on Clinton to get it all passed was a dick move on his part ..and he probably didn't want to get shot again by Bush Sr, so he waited for the next Democrat to dump it all on.
My point is that the Republicans will have us all believe that the Democrats want to take our guns but it's the Republicans who have done most of the gun control in my lifetime. It's not necessarily the gun control that bothers me so much, it's more about the boldfaced hypocrisy, and the game is rigged so that nobody can call them on it.
..and to be fair, no child wants to die for any of our rights, not just the ones pertaining to 2A, but plenty of our people did.
Something that's never mentioned is how the changes in the laws pertaining to the pharmaceutical industry and the way they are able to bombard the general public with advertisement about their mind altering drugs directly relates to the spike in mass shootings since they have been manipulating the laws in their favor. Each change in legislation is immediately followed by more mass shootings, but to notice such things will have you marked as a conspiracy theorist, and in need of some of their medicine to fit in.
"War on Drugs" doesn't mean what it used to. Now it means were at war, on drugs
What about the Jews, Hitler disarmed the Jews. Then attack them
The disarmament of the German Jews started in 1933, initially limited to local areas such as Berlin, where large-scale raids in search for weaponry took place. Starting in 1936, the Gestapo prohibited German police officers from giving firearms licenses to Jews
@Jayciedubb Why didn’t I stop my government from disarming me?
What the actual fuck do I need a gun for?
Even in the most terrible areas of my country, the crime rate is lower than the crime rate in yours.
We had a school shooting here and we all agreed enough, no more children must die. And we stopped school mass murders completely. Because we are a civilised country.
But not enough American children have died yet for that conversation to happen in the states.
Statistically the gun owners are mostly likely to use it on themselves. So go ahead, exercise your freedom and do a Kurt Cobain.
@AdmiralPrune see how you ignited like that by me butting my nose where it doesn't belong? It's annoying, isn't it? What makes you think it's less annoying when you do it? Why do you think your opinion even matters?
Aa a humanitarian, I'm glad you're happy with your government's policies and practices, and I still don't even know from where you hail. It doesn't matter.
Lets stick to the point. You said we should be taking up arms against our government or why bother having the second amendment. This reply of yours suggests that the problem with our government, as you see it, is that it won't disarm us. Is that why we should overtake our government at gunpoint? ...to demand they disarm us? Do you understand the flaw in your logic here?
If you ever feel delusional, remember there's people thinking that being able to legally own an AR-15 is gonna make any difference against a govt. that can employ Abrams, F-35s, Apaches, FPV drones lol
@Elessar Precisely. Kill a cop, a swat team will arrive. If the banjo playing hick in question survives that, the national guard will follow. Then it’s a military affair.
Yanks like to tell people their military is the best - despite a track record somewhat blemished for the last 80 years. What chance does the American peasant and his home collection of fire arms have against that?
What do you mean with "is about to"? Why is this organized militia with the guns they still have not doing anything about flock cameras, illegal wars, bad economic policies, the refusal to help American citizens in need, etc?
@mksworld of course not, but clearly the well armed organized militia does because they don't stop it. Or maybe they forgot what their guns are meant for and/or the part about organizing. 🤷
