Will society collapse in our lifetime?

sally1981 · 41-45, F
I am not sure but I would say that if you are under 50 you have a huge problem coming, Gas price up 77% Petrol up 44% Electric up 57%
Food inflation + more
@sally1981 Gas is way down in the US.

Not likely. I know a lot if conservative minded Republicans fully expect it to but fortunately they aren’t the only decision makers out there.
During the dark ages when plagues killed about 1/3 of the population of Europe, society didn't collapse. During two world wars, certain political regimes collapsed, but society didn't collapse.

Despite multiple looming crises, I doubt society will collapse anytime soon, although it might change more rapidly than we expect.

I'm voting for the Giant Meteor in 2024.

For me, at base it's not about politics. It's about over population, over consumption and over pollution; all completely unsustainable and will lead to a multi-faceted disaster which is already under way.
texasborn89 · 31-35, M
yes. the world won't go on much longer it can't. we don't have years and years left like so many people think. they are trying eliminate most of the population one way or another
UpForItNow · 22-25, F
I think there's a real sense in which we haven't had society for some time.
cyberdude28 · 31-35, M
@UpForItNow I don't understand what you're saying...
UpForItNow · 22-25, F
@cyberdude28 Our world is so individualistic, diverse and competitive that many people have no sense of the fellow-feeling of a society.
cyberdude28 · 31-35, M
@UpForItNow You have a point but it's just that also neighbors can be nosy, gossipy and annoying if your interact too much with them.
Rhode57 · 56-60, M
Dont know but I often think it wouldnt be a bad thing if it did . Even better for the human race to become extinct and let nature heal after all the damage we have done .
smiler2012 · 56-60
no i think not unless there was god forbid a nuclear war and the aftermath it would [cyberdude28]

@Shaveit How come?
Shaveit · 61-69, M
@cyberdude28 The Democrats have ruined this country and made the strongest country in the world the weakest… And it keeps getting worse every day
cyberdude28 · 31-35, M
@Shaveit You mean the oligarchs and elites? Corporations and lobbyist irregardless of political party right? Both parties are owned by the same masters really.
Probably not in mine. But you’re likely to be here for awhile. I truly hope it doesn’t.

@Darksideinthenight2 Afghanistan is an example of what happens when you have a vacuum of power.

Nukes or not, you won't thrive in a collapsed society, rest assured.

@Darksideinthenight2 Yes and chances are that you'll be among most, therefore "you don't really want society to collapse in your lifetime"

And even in the remote hypothesis you're among the lucky ones, I'm not sure it would be preferable to death.

I think Westerner society, yes. Or at least the USA. Too much infighting.
