When just looking at someone makes them look back at you like you were perving on them ,,
I am polite to everyone ,,it sucks now days that just looking at someone can get you smart ass comments
"Take a picture you old perv ,it will last longer "
I miss the days now when women chased after me
Not that I ever thought I was all that ,I didn't
But at least people weren't rude to me just for being nice
I always look people in the eye and say Good day ,being kind should never be treated as a sin EVER , I am basically shy
Its an effort on my part
I guess just another draw back to getting old

@rckt148 I deal with customers of any age when at work...some of the girls and women who come in are friendly and smile/speak back when I'm just being friendly to them, but the majority of them act as if I am just perving them (like I'm undressing them with my eyes), trying to hit on them or something...they don't look at me ( many look at me as if I am just some dirty old man), always have a perturbed scowl on their face, will hardly speak when spoken to and just give very low short answers when they do (some won't even speak at all). It gets really pathetic at times.

I have taught all of mine to raise the standard and it actually catch's on
I love when all my Grandkids friends line up to give me a hug boys and girls and even at the high school with all their friends around they are not embarrassed ,and all of them are pretty popular so when I am out and expecting people to be rude and unfriendly ,its always nice to hear someone say
"Aren't you Papaw " and give me a hug
They have been raised a lot of them to be that way
now days you do have to be careful even with people they know
But its easier to teach them to stay aware and basic ways to defend themselves ,then to just be jerks to everyone ,
and it does catch on ,,
I am always happy and proud now days to hear Papaw ,,even when its not my grandkids
its shows we have made a little difference ,,,
